nice font wanted for subtitles (ce)

Hi
Topic says it all I am looking for a good font for subtitling
and it must handle eastern european and be possible to load into
srt2sup and free ...

anyone able to recommend outlines and colours for fonts i seem to
produce subs that look as if they were made by a fluffy marker pen
and unreadable over the top of many scenes

high contrast between font and outline color, i'd say very dark outline and light subs. Be careful not to make it too colorful, it hurts :) I usually use colors that look very pale (grayish) when seen seperately.

#FFFFDF (yellow) for font and pure black for outline is a starting point (at least for me;).
