Just ordered an Elta and a DVD rewriter. Was wondering if the Elta can playback DiVX/XviD files from DVDR's. If there was any trick to it in write method etc.

Absolutly every DivX Player can do that :)
It even better to play from dvd (higher bitrates), just burn as iso dvd.

Even though CD-R's work fine in the elta player, I would be a bit cautious with CD-RW's. I have an elta 8883 and it's got massive problems with CD-RW media, it rarely plays more than the first second of the avi.

Also, I wouldn't recommend using Mode 2 (CDXA) CDs in the elta player. Although it supports Mode 2 CDs, it doesn't play them very reliably and often simply stops the playback at some point (usually towards the end of the CD).

Elta has a problem with high bitrates on CDR (4k-6k) only in first 3-5 minutes of the first clip on media. Then it's ok :)
