I just fixed the speed issues introduced in 1.5.10.1
Speed issues were as follow:

1. When switching (the issue doesn't appear if you don't switch the value) to 'Even lower', 'Lower', 'Higher' or 'Even higher' the thread priority of the current job, then the rate drop to 0fps (except for people having HT capable processors, according to some reports).

2. When having VBR audio as input (e.g. VBR MP3 in AVI, or external VBR MP3 file), the rate of muxing (at least in Direct Stream Copy) would be 10 times slower than usual.

This makes a new bugfix release (build 2439) availabe on SourceForge (http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=65889&package_id=69373&release_id=177123).

I´m sorry, but bugfix release (build 2439) at Sourceforge seems to be empty!

I just tested and the zip file is OK.
Maybe you selected a server that actually doesn't have (yet) a copy of the file. In this case just try to download it from another server.

Well, it is strange, but I´ve just tried it once more from the same server and now it is there.
Thanks a lot,

Hi,

Is there a way to recover virtualdubmod default options besides manually editing the registry?

I just installed the newest bugfix (build 2439) and still can't the AC3 audio to play. When switch to the full processing mode get this error:

"No audio decompressor could be found to decompress the source audio format"

The same audio stream plays fine in 1.5.4.1

The update improved MPEG-2 import speed, though.

Am I missing something?

Are people still working on VDubMod? The latest commits seem to be two months old :(

This is from the latest changelog:
- Removed internal AC3 decompressing since fccHandler made an ACM codec for AC3.
So you need the AC-3 ACM Decompressor by fccHandler (http://fcchandler.home.comcast.net/AC3ACM/index.html).

Great work guys, but I just noticed after upgrading my VitualDubMod with the one in the GKnot install (2439) my Xivd & Ogg Audio would slowly go out of sync over time. It takes about 90 minutes before its noticeable. Then by around 110 mintes its very easy to spot at least 1/2 second. I don't know if this is VirtulDubMod problem or a Besweet one as I updated all of them at once with the latest GKnot pack.

I wonder why development of this great tool is stopped.

I try use VDMod for cutting (deleting) bad (poor) frames, and use Script editor command "Import Frameset as Trims" for avisynth.
It works, but end position of all Trims is not correct (bigger by 1).
For example, after deleting frame 10 we have Trim(0,10) ++ Trim(11,12345), i.e. full clip.
I try fix it in source of AVSViewer.cpp, by simple change all
"range->range.to" by "range->range.to - 1".
It works (seems).
I use last availible full source version 1.5.4.1,
and do no know what is CVS and so on.

Although nobody was interested, i temporary put my bugfixed (with correct TRIM) version 1.5.4.2 to my W W W

Which is your adress? I'm also sad development of VirtualDubMod seems to be stopped but developing requires time... And I'm no developer.

@Fizick
I agree it is too bad that development has stopped, it's a great tool even as is. Although nobody was interestedEvery little fix helps so I'm glad you've posted your file, thanks.

I tested your fix and it works but I'm curious the .exe is 3 times larger than the original .exe 2.7mb Vs. about 0.9mb, I don't know enough about programming to know why that might be. Also is there any reason that you applied your fix to VDM version 1.5.4 instead of the most recent release 1.5.10.1?

28th October 2004, 00:19
Fizick - you would have to do a CVS checkout to get the source code. its explained how to on sourceforge. if you would prefer i can do it and send it to you. just PM me with an email that accepts 4mb attachments. :)

Now I understand it, but it is still too complex (and big) to me.:)

Could a Mod fix the title of this thread since it's a sticky? It makes it look as nothing has been released since 1.5.10.1 in 2004.

New version out based on 1.5.10.2:

http://www.aud-x.com/content/view/12/26/

Apperently they added support for multichannel audio:

[VitrualDubMod Surround 1.6.0.0 Change Log]
- Fixed: Enabled 6chnls when for 6chnls input files and no channels change in conversion dialog is selected
- Fixed: Presentation of default bits per sample when no change in conversion dialog is selected
- Fixed: Setting bits per sample in case of non-WAVE_FORMAT_PCM input and change of channels in conversion dialog selected.

They should have called it 1.5.10.3, since it is based on 1.5.10.2 (and thus not on Virtualdub 1.6).

The modified source files (based on 1.5.10.2) can be found here:

The commonly used version is build 2540 (most of the links point to it) - I've just found build 2542, to my surprise, on some Polish website. :D

http://www.download.net.pl/9187/VirtualDubMod/

Downloading to check what's "new". ;)

PS. It's the main executable file and *.vdi, dated 21-02-2006.

... and here as well ;)

Ok, now I'm sure that there is a problem with VDubMod 1.5.10.2 concerning decoding audio streams.

I open a vob file from a dvd (self made, not protected), then click on "streams", right click on the audio track, select "full processing mode", then save the video as avi.
===> error
"Decoder to process audio stream not found".

Then I took the 1.5.4.1 version, unziped all the files to the same directory as that of 1.5.10.2, same operation ===> no error.

Unziped 1.5.10.2 again to the VDubMod folder, same test ===> error.

Reinstalled the 1.5.4.1 version, ===> no error.

Why don't you just use dgindex and avisynth to read the vob?
That's the way I do it, and there's no problem that way.

I spent three hours struggling with DGindex doind the d2v file just to get errors like "unable to read stream" in virtual dub (not mod).

What is the advantage of it over using a version of VirtualDubMod which is already working?

foxyshadis
7th April 2007, 03:15
I know getting into new software can be frustrating, but hours? All you need to generate a proper d2v is the latest dgdecode package on neuron2.net and the latest avisynth package. The dgdecode.dll has to be in avisynth plugins folder.

Load the vob/m2v into deindex, save project, and you have a valid d2v, there's nothing more to it. (Although you should read about the force film vs honor flags option.) Virtualdubmod cannot natively read these files. What it can do, if you go to file->open, is create an avisynth template with the same name for the d2v, at the bottom of the dialog.

As for why to switch, well, VDM's not working now, is it? Support for it is hard to come by since almost everyone uses either avisynth directly or software built on top of avisynth to do the dvd decoding.

If you adamantly don't want to work with avisynth, you can also try virtualdub-mpeg2.

:thanks: , foxy, for your explanations.

I'll stick with the fool-freindly method in the old version because I have no time now to do more. But maybe in the future.

Try reading the guides on doom9. I don't think they are that difficult to follow, or are they?

You do realize that VirtualDub with MPEG2 support has a more updated version available, which is still not included in VDM?

http://fcchandler.home.comcast.net/stable/

I use this one for DVD (VOB) to H264 avi quite successfully for almost a year now.

I think it is dead for now being as the developer has yet to make any small inprovments to it in over 2 years...

Great Thing about OSS as long as someone can and is willing to take over a project its never gone for good...

Not that I'm aware of.
I use it rarely now. Mostly I use Virtualdub. I still hope somebody revamps Virtualdubmod one day.

LoRd_MuldeR

The project is dead. Accept that. It's based on a totally outdated version of VirtualDub anyway. And that won't change, even if somebody would hack a few new fixes into VirtualDubMod nowadays. There are so many differences between VirtualDubMod and the original VirtualDub it was based on, that it's simply impossible to update VirtualDubMod to the current VirtualDub codebase, unless you want to re-write everything from the scratch. Also the MKV support in VirtualDubMod is so much outdated, that even the Matroska web-site tells you to not use VirtualDubMod nowadays to handle MKV files...
