How to permanently mux SRT and an AVI

hello all. first i want to apologuise if this has already been answered before. (i did use the search button).
So... what i want to do is to mux the subtitles in srt format with an avi. because i want to covert it to SVCD, so i really need the subs.
what it the fastest way, without loosing quality (if possible)to do this? and what programs should i use?

AFAIK AVImux-GUI will only handle SSA subs, not SRT ? alexnoe to clarify ?

It handled SRT long before SSA... but muxing the subs into the file without recompression won't help you much with creating a s-vcd with subtitles

maybe i'm not making my self clear enough...
i want to mux the subtitles in the avi..
so that i get an avi with permanent subs...
thats all..
after that i will convert that avi to Svcd, whatever steps necessary...

Either you mux it, and cannot make an svcd from it, or you 'burn in' the subs with loosy compression and can make an svcd from it.

damn.... ok now i get it....
that's what i want to do... to burn the subs in...
so that they will allways show up with the video...
can your proggy do that??
i thought that muxing was the same as burn in... guess not :)
