I want to do a translation for a movie for a friend of mine. It's a chinese series show which I need to do a English subtitle on it.
Can anyone suggest any program that will conveniently do the job?
Thanks in advance!

Subtitle Translator - best for inserting times for subtitle lines.

Or you can additionally use Subtitle Workshop (http://urusoft.co.nr) which supports lots of formats and has dozens of functions to ease timings, synchronization, translating, etc.

for the aventurous soul, i'd recommend to try (*cough* shameless ad) U96 and then report me back what all doesn't work :) You can synch the subtitle grid with any audio or video file Direct Show plays on your system and all commands needed for rapid creation are available over keyboard shortcuts.
Well, one downpoint will probably be at the moment you can only save as USF with all features or export to SRT (losing most cool style etc information). I plan to add a SSA export module soon when my exams are over.
