Hi there :D
I'm using DirectVobSub v 2.23 (please link me up to a new version if there is one)as my subtitles filter for watching movies+subs in players like WMP, RealOne, and Winamp.
I got a little problem with this filter...:confused:
When VobSub starts to work he kind of slows the movie down, when I watch the movie without subs it plays fine. The filter makes those little freezes upon playing, everything is still running but its not very smooth....:(

Now please don’t tell me how great is Radlight or MicroDVd (or mv2player or Crystal for that matter) as an alternative cuase I'm not looking for one.

The works:
Pentium(R) 4 PCU 1500MHz
1.50 GHz
512 MG of RAM
Windows XP Pro

if there's another filter like VobSub which supports the players mentioned above please tell me about it.

1. Don't blame Gabest's excellent filter for your poor media player selection. None of the players you mentioned is recommended by most people on this board. Try Zoom player or media player classic, also by Gabest.

2. There are newer versions of the filter available, now known as vsfilter, see http://sourceforge.net/projects/guliverkli for more info.

3. RealOne is best suited for real media, Winamp is best suited for audio only playback, WMP is best suited for taking up free hard disk space. There are very few complaints of this type about vsfilter, it's probably related to your media player.

you got a 1.5 Ghz and can't play subs fluently ? this is sure NOT the fault of VSfilter :) i can play soft srt and soft ssa on a P3 600Mhz

and i agree with KpeX your player selection is *hrm* odd -
besides ZP and MPC you could also try the core media player

concerning alternative subtitle filters,
there is SubtitleDS but its far suberceeded by VSfilter (IMHO). VSfilter is probably the most powerful subtitle engine (renderer) you can find anywhere (no player built-in engine eveb comes close to it :)

Therefore is strongly suggest you change player and try to set up VSfilter to work OK first before you go on looking anywhere else :) Setting you might try to reduce processor load ar: -uncheck "prebuffer subtitles" (especially for soft SSA), -decrease the max subtitle resolution (more for really slow comps like my 600er, this will make the subs look a little less sharp, but the dont look too terrible even below 640x480)
