First, thanks to DVD2SVCD and everyone else who supports this effort. I haven't actually gotten a backup made yet, but I feel I'm getting close, particularly after seeing this:

Background: I tried the D2S121B2 and had Scenarist disappearing on me without a trace... reading several threads suggested that this may have been fixed in D2S121B2a. Well, I figured newer is better so I tried D2S121B2b..... and ran into the YV12 error "Couldn't find appropriate video codec for 'YV12'." in CCE, followed by, "vinfo_open() failed:*** Could not open the file <G:\dvd2svcd\video\CCE_Video_Information_File.vaf>*** The system cannot find the file specified. [Windows error code: 0x2 2]

Stepping back to D2S121B2a seemed to solve this for me... at least no more CCE error. But as CCE was humming along, I came across this thread. I went back to the 2b build and checked the box that DDogg specified, and CCE is humming along now again.

I won't know for several hours whether or not the Scenarist problem is fixed for me (the problem doesn't seem to occur on short VTS's so it seems I need to test on the full movie).

Anyway, I wanted to post the error message that I got in its entirety because I didn't find this thread when searching for the word "appropriate". I can't explain why I chose that word, but hopefully other people with similar odd logic installed upstairs will benefit.

Thanks to everyone (DVD2SVCD and DDogg most). Hopefully I'll have a success story to tell soon.

Regards,
Stuart

Anyway, I wanted to post the error message that I got in its entirety This is excellent thinking. We ask for people to search so it is good if they can find the actual error message. When doing a post it is good to think about the next poor stiff coming along with the same problem it took you hours to find.

No worries.
In my case, scenarist creates the VIDEO_TS folder that I throw at Nero6 in DVD-Video creation mode.

From experience I learned that NERO dvd-video mode results in a coaster on my pioneer dv-454.
You need to make sure to choose dvd-rom instead of dvdvideo and then choose UDF 1.02 mode. Do not enable the X-Box compatibility mode on the same tab.

This works like a charm.
However you need to manually create a AUDIO_TS en a VIDEO_TS folder , put the bobs, ifo's, ... in them and then click and drag both directories in your compilation and burn.
100% succes so far.
