I am having the same trouble as Windtrader everything works great until it gets to the Scenarist step. It imports the project correctly and then a box pops up that wants you to click OK. After about 10 seconds that box disappears and I get the same error in the bottom left hand corner as Windtrader, other than that there are no other errors in Scenarist. Also if I click on the layout tab and tell it to create the image it does and the resulting image burns correctly and plays fine in my stand alone. It seems like the automation of Scenarist is failing after the project is imported. The log is from ET Limited Edition R1 with DTS sound. I have also tried LOTR Two Towers with AC3, Forrest Gump with AC3, Lost in Space with AC3 and BlackHawk Down with AC3 all are R1 and stop in the same place with Scenarist. Also I have tried Scenarist 2.7 and 2.6 and have also tried it on my laptop and all attempts stop at the same point in Scenarist. Here is my log from DVD2SVCD I would attach my log from Scenarist but it made the post to long. I can post it if anyone needs it.

I have been reluctant to post this message because of other users experiencing the same problem. I thought I would just wait and see (read, read, read) what the possible solution would be. Or well, here goes, add me to the ME TOO list!

I have been experimenting with D2S now for over a week (ten or more attempts). I have tried to backup several of my R1 DVD's, including MI2, Gladitor, the Mummy Returns and Jurassic Park III.

Each attempt the backup works until it reaches the Layout Editor phase of scenarist. The import works fine, but the layout editor will not start. I can manually start this phase and I am able to complete the backup process. I just don't get it? I have backed up over 150 DVDs of my personal collection using other methods, mostly DVD2DVD-R.

I have D2S on two different PC's. Dell 2.8G P4, 256M Ram, 120G Hard Drive. Abit 2.4G P4, 512M Ram, 120G HD. I have reinstalled CCE 2.5, Scenarist 2.6 and 2.7, aspi drivers, even a fresh copy of XP PRO on the Abit computer. Both have the same problem.

Following is the most recently log from the Abit Computer, XP PRO CORP (fresh install, critical updates only) Jurassic Park III...
Please direct me how to find my problem that is driving me INSANE.

Scenarist Failed!

Hi,
few days ago I'm aware about the fact that there is a new version of DVD2SVCD available, and so I did some tests.

The movie I tested was Treasure Planet (by Disney).
I usually use DVDDecrypter to create a ISO image which I can later mount with Alcohol120% for further processing.
I faced the following results.

1. Sonic Scenarist stops after import. Nothing happens afterwards (as appeared to other people as well).
I then go to the layout screen and 'build' a DVD structure (not a DVD-Image) which is created successfully.

2. When I play the created structure with WinDVD, the audio is almost 1 second ahead of the video. This doesn't change for the whole movie.

Any ideas ??

Note: To all who converts LOTR II. If you don't want to use the subtitles, you should use at least the 'forced' subtitles in your native language because of the fact that there is sometimes a discussion in 'elbish' in which the forced subtitles appear (see chapter 30 for example).

Greetz,
Joe

1. In the Layout Editor Tab in scenarist is the two first checkboxes checked in the "Step 3 - Choose op....." box?

2. Please make a Print Screen of how Scenarist looks when it stops and mail it to me. Don't close any possible messageboxes that scenarist might have open. (Switch to Scenarist, press Print Screen on your keyboard, start paint and select edit/paste, save that picture and mail it)

After the Scenarist has stopped working, all checkboxes in the Layout Editor Tab (Step 3 - Choose op.....) are unchecked.

2. Please make a Print Screen ...... and mail it)
Well, I have produced the screen image, but where to mail it ??

My mail address is in plenty of places, like the about tab in dvd2svcd and in the readme file.

OK, it has been sent to your bug-report adress.

@dvd2svcd

I tested your update and it works !!

After the import has finished, the build process starts immediately without any manual interaction.
Great.

Thanks a lot,
Joe

OK, so now go click on all the sponsors on his page. That will help him a bit. :)

Okie it doesn't work with scenarist. The scenarist process runs but I don't see a window in the taskbar or any disk activity. it goes into an endless loop, hence the massive CPU usage. I left it running for a half hour with no visible results.

I'll try importing the m2v ac3 files manually

Edited:

Ok its a problem with scenarist. it used to work..i haven't used it in months though. i guess something i installed broke it. now whenever i click on "new from script" or even try to export to a script, it locks up...stupid POS!! guess i'll try reinstalling it

Hi, I have exactly this problem and the way atreides93 solved it by putting back the wnaspi32.dll file back in windows\system32 folder didn't help (which I had there already).
I tried 4.60 aspi drivers and now 4.71.2, no success yet.

@atreides93
Did you change anything else to solve the problem?

Cheers

The problem I was having (and agonizing) has been solved thanks to finding this thread: http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=66210&highlight=scenarist+hangs
Thanks drkillpatient21 :)

So if you use nforce drivers be sure to say no at installing the sw ide driver, at least at version 3.13, which I am using.

Cheers and Happy New Year to All :)
