Playing DivX with subs from HDD

Hi.

I have made a DivX movie, nice and crisp. I have made MDVD subs as well. How do I play both of them in my MDVD player from the HDD?

Firts away my english isnt the best so ask if you cant understand something ;)
You want to play an AVI with subtitles from HDD?
What format are the subs? (sub,ssa,srt...)
The only and not so easy way is to combine the avisynth filter Textsub or VSFilter with the new ffdshowfilter.
First you have to open the ffd config.
There must be a line named AVISynth.
You activate this and Get in the window now you load only the AVISynth filter (for example VobSub,Textsub,VSFilter)
And then your special command that loads your subtitle.
Now the ffdshowfilter loads the subs as default in realtime in your AVIs! in the windows as long as you let in the lines you typed in.
Thats it!
On my PC it works very well!

Much better than your 'only way' is to load subtitles in AVI player. Almost every support common formats.
It's quite simple, in Micro DVD player too.

:confused: Sure, your right its much simpler and i forgot it,coz i use only *.ssa for my own subs with effects and i dont know if MDVD Player can show them correctly, but other players dont show effects so i use this method.

Special respects to Mr ppera2. You are entirely right. Guides are of great help. And while we are on the subject of guides, can you please direct a good document on what the function of the different parts of the VobSub window 'Filter: VobSub' ?

I've read guides that came with v 2.23, in Doom9 tutorials, in WeetHet pages, in DigitalDigest. I couldn't find pointers about what the red square and the outer square mean etc etc.

Can you or anybody else PLEASE write one page about this VobSub screen?

Well, I used VobSub only to display simple subtitle files. Subresync to convert them to SSA for use in Textsub plugin. Nothing more.
I must here put some critic to Gabest. It looks that he doesn't care much for unstructions. Latest software from him is complete without documents :confused:

VSfilter (aka VobSub) reads .SSA and .AAS from extrenal files as well as muxed (.mkv only or can .ogm have them already too ?) and .USF only from external.

[edit]usage/handling is the same as for srt. And his next VSfilter probably includes html tags for SRT ( i guess this means just B,I,Font color, not ALL tags :P)
