Hi everybody,

My first post here :).

I am in my way to changing to Robot4Rip for the pre video compressing work with GordianKnot. Untill now everything worked fine with GK, and I had no problems getting really good looking films with various soundtracks, subtitles, ac3 sound, etc.(thanks to the great guides I found here!! ). But now I have a problem with r4r.

Everything works perfectly except that r4r can not run VobSub. Even if I try to run it under the "run" menu in doesn't work. The command seems to be sent by r4r but nothing happens. If I run the same command r4r does in a DOS prompt VobSub configuration screen opens correctly .

The rest of the applications work ok both when opened through the menu and during the automatic workflow.

Am I missing something regarding the internals of Win98SE ??

Searching the forums didn't get any answer to this.

Any ideas??

Thanks everybody in advance,

Atom

Hi again,

because of another reasons I had to make a fresh windows (98SE) reinstall.

The thing is that exactly the same problem appears again regarding r4r and VobSub :(

May this be an specific thing of windows 98 SE? Didn't anybody ever had the same problem? Any ideas?

Hi,

Digging a bit more the problem, I think I traced it down to an extra space in the command r4r sends.

In a DOS prompt I need to write:
prompt:\>rundll32 C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\vobsub.dll,Configure

but if i put, as r4r does (notice the extra space before the comma),
prompt:\>rundll32 C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\vobsub.dll ,Configure

the command does not work at all.

Doesn't anyone notice this effect under Win98? (or nobody here uses it? ;) )

Can I change the command sent under r4r?

i dont use robot4rip
but if you find you can't change the command (IMHO this is likely), then you should send a bug report to or contact the author of robot4rip.
I think what you write in the last post is enough to describe the problem and this looks like one of those bugs rather hard to find as programmer (because its such a "stupid" one :).
