Please point out VobSub detailed help

Hello, folks. I feel awed, in the midst of real PROs.

I don't know the meanings of the various parts in the 'Filter: VobSub' window which, after opening a subtitle file, shows a red square within a bigger square, two vertical sliders with 'scale' above and 'align' below, four small square buttons above 'Open' and 'About', another horizontal slider with 'Movie' 'Transparency' 'Subtitle' wrttten above it etc. Can you point out a detailed help page for all this? VobSub's homepage link, http://www.vobsub.edensrising.com/ apparently does not work. Thanks.

The real Vobsub webpage address is http://www.gabest.org
But this addressisn't up-to-date anymore. Vobsub has been transfered to a sourceforge project under the VSfilter name and there's no help anymore... :

You can however install the old version (2.23) available on gabest's website, copy the help files, uninstall it and install the new version (2.27).

Thanks, Ghim. I'll do that.

But don't you think it's amazing that so many programs use VobSub, and so many How-Tos include VobSub as a step with pictures - but none EXPLAINS it! Why is that? Why does everybody think everybody KNOWS this tool thoroughly? (Maybe they all DO - only I'm the odd one out!)

The VobSub 2.23 Help text file says:

"Q: What is that red box in the config dialog on the right?

A: First, you can drag it holding the left button or change align mode with the right. Second, it has two meanings: If the align button is turned off, it symbolizes the full screen area (0,0)-(720,576or480). Subtitles can appear anywhere inside as it is defined in the VOBs. That's why if you move it up a little, just above the lower black bar, some subs on the top won't stay on the srceen. To solve this, use the aligned mode, where the red box only shows the orientation. Your subs will appear in that region from the crossed lines."

It is not very clear to me (my inability). If the red square is the full screen area, then what's the bigger square around this red one? etc etc.

Can any of you please WRITE an one-page How-To on this?
