View Full Version : Fine Tuning position of subtitles on DVD

Hello,

Have a question I can't figure out from reading the Guides:

I have a badly mastered DVD, with 16:9, non-anamorphic content. The makers of this DVD were so kind to put the subtitles into the black bars! Good, as long as you don't have a 16:9 tv :( :(

Is there an easy way to move the subtitles to another position? I've looked at SubRip, but have no idea how to change the values in the .vob files directly or rip 'm out of there and recode the vobs.

All help is welcome!

Thanks,
Yves

Rip them out using OCR, save them as stl file where u can control the vertical offset of them and reauthor with Maestro.

U will find that u can put them anywhere u want.

Alternatively u can rip them as bmps, batch proccess them in Photoshop to relocate their position and reauthor in Maestro or Scenarist again.

Sad thing is that DVD players doesn't support changing pos. of subs by playback.
Or such player (soft or hard) exists?

The Herosoft (soft)players support moving subs ... I don't want to appear like overly promoting it, it certainly does have its limitations. Read more about it in this thread: http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=54260 .
