Subtitle problem

Well i've ripped a movie and I used subrip and the guide to get bmp subs with son format for the timecode so i could import into DVDMaestro and after importing the video and two audio tracks (jap and eng) i imported the subs. Everything went in fine so i obviously compiled it. Unfortunatly upon viewing it i could not change the audio or subtitle tracks(i used powerdvd) :/ im not quiet sure what im doing wrong this is also my first attempt doing subtitles i've been messing with it pretty much all day basically, yet still havn't stumbled upon it with trial and error. Also my dvd does not have menus or anything just the video and audio tracks nothing fancy.

So basically im wondering why i cant turn on subtitles or change audio tracks even though they are compiled in there with dvd Maestro, thx.

Since u r backing up a movie, I am suspecting that there r User Prohibited Operations in the original ifo that doesn't allow u to change audio and subs. Everything is controlled through the movie's menu.

To bypass this problem open each ifo in ifoedit and press the 'Remove P-UPs' button.

I take for granted that the Maestro's simulation is displaying the subs as well as that u r able to hear the two distinct audios.

Well i used dvd decrypter to extract the pgc from the dvd that contains the movie and then used subrip on it for the bmp n time code like in the guide.

Then i tried the ifoedit and well when i load the ifo it now shows the jap in the audio box and the eng in the subtitle box, yet it plays the ifo for like 10 seconds and doesnt continue on to play the vobs. Not sure why thats happening now.

So all the folder has is video_ts.vob, vts_01_X.vob's, 2 ifos; VIDEO_TS.IFO and VIDEO_TS.IFO. Did something screw up the linking or something when i used decrypter and maestro? cause it plays when burned but in powerdvd it just hangs when i load a ifo but if i select a vob it plays but doesnt show the jap or eng like the ifo does when it sits there....

question 2: is there a guide maybe where i could pull the movie from the original just re-encode it then put it back in the structure with ifoedit? that might just be an easier way i guess...
all of this just because darn forign tounges cant understand, heh.

u r missing some files here.

Can u post the structure from the original and the reauthored to have a look? A simple dir >dir.txt is enough, u can paste the directory from the text file here.

Have u ifoupdated the newly re-authored ifos?

dunno what ifo update is, heh? Normally i just grab the pgc and then re-encode the movie and drop that, the audio streams, and then put them in maestro and compile and it works fine in my comp and dvd player but. ive always seen subtitles at a threat.

I sensed that. When u re-author u have to ifoupdate the new pointers of the vob set to the original ifo.

There r some very good threads on ifo/vob editors forum about ifoupdate. U'd better do some homework and post back :)
