Wanted: (S)VCD with Closed Captions

Does anyone out there own a VCD or SVCD (or any of their variants) with working closed captions (not subtitles)? I am trying to work out how to add closed captions to (S)VCD's, and nothing on the internet will tell me the format they are stored in. I was unable to find any online VCD store that had VCDs with captions, so I figured I'd appeal to my fellow posters.

If anyone has such an item, could you please attach the file CAPT01.DAT from the EXT directory of the disk in your reply? I believe the file will be fairly short.

P.S. Yes, my website has detailed instructions on how to add closed captions to a VCD--those instructions are wrong, as I've recently discovered.

I suggest you make a SVCD/VCD backup of one of your own DVDs which has closed captioning. They're not that unusual.
Subs or closed captions from a DVD are most likely copyrighted and therefor asking someone to send them to you falls under Forum rule #6.

I dont think the VCD/SVCD spec suppots the CC. No wonder that there is nothing in net talked about it.

Make a DVD-R instead!

I tried the DVD route, and it was too much trouble if you're working from VCR material instead of DVD's. Also, if you have a 56K modem and you want to make something based on downloaded videos, a DVD is overshooting the mark (not that I'm doing anything like that, as it is clearly against the board rules :).

Anyway, VCD's do support closed captions (but not selectable subtitles)--see here (http://www.vcdimager.org/pub/vcdimager/manuals/0.7/vcdimager.html#SEC21). The captions are stored as a file on the VCD (CAPT01.DAT). Every page I've seen on this topic on the internet is basically identical to what I've linked (or providing less information), so I have no idea what format the captions are stored in. I used to think they were in the same format as the file you get when you use GraphEdit with a video capture card, but apparently that is not the case.

If the maker of VCDImager said thier programs support the CC in VCD-Format, it dose not mean that YOU and all the crazy ppl. also can get the practical usage.
1. nerver seen a DVD standalone player whitch has the feature "CC on VCD"

If the playback sucks, all your efforts are in vain!
