Text srt To Bmp .sub

I'm trying to insert edited subtitles into Die Another Day.
Its really nice in the fact that there aren't any subtitles for the Korean bits alone.
So I had to edit out all the bits that were spoken in english, after extracting the subs using Subrip.
I'm now wanting to use this in Gordian Knot via vobsub, but have no idea how to convert it from the text based format its in now, to the bitmap based format that VobSub is looking for...
(and yes, i've checked the guides, checked the forums, and i still cannot find anything)

that's probably because there is no practical way...
you could use a graphic program :(

Or if i understood you right, you have the VOBs ("extracted with SubRip..") - so why don't you set the output format to a bitmap based one in SubRip and extract again , directly to bitmaps (at the bottom of the format list are some graphical formats, but don't ask me which to take for perfect interaction with VobSub). Or use VSRip from gabest (sourceforge/gukiverkli)

IMHO its far more logical to create bitmaps directly from the VOBS as there its also bitmap based than going thru OCR first and then convert back..you can still delete the bitmaps you don't want (and the corresponding entries in the "transport" text file)

Or use textsub (part of vobsub) to get your .srt burnt into the movie..

Maestro son file or Scenarist sst will produce bmp files as well as a control script that contains the timecodes.

Just extract the portions u want.

Oh oh...
I was asking because i have about 28 subs from around 850..
For some reason none of the foreign language bits have subtitles in the film already, which is weird.
Back to the hard grind :(

For those who dont know, TextSub is a plugin for V Dub, contained in the Vob Sub instal, but is not selected by default.

Hi. I was just thinking that your final film could be also in DVD format with selectable subtitles! I only recently noticed a tool that converts text format subs to "sup" format, required by ifoedit (take a look at www.doom9.org). So, how about reauthoring with free tools? Demux your DVD with your favourite demuxer, rip subtitles, edit them as you like, convert to sup, and finally run ifoedit to insert video track, audio track and sup file.
Menu? You can keep the original menu by the use of ... ifoupdate.
I have tested all above with a 53 sec video. It worked for me. I hope it 'll work for you too with your 2 hour movie.

Well, all seems to be going well with TextSub...
except for one slight problem....

there seems to be two layers of the text....and I'm just using the standard avs output from GK, and loading htat into V Dub, and using the standard settings for TextSub.
Any ideas on what i've done wrong?

There is a tool called SRT2SUP. This tool allows you to edit, add or change subtitles and then convert them to SUP (Ifoedit format). This then can be added when authoring DVD through Ifoedit. The tool itself is not available on the authors website because the website itself is shut down for a while.
