The current build of the splitter here (internal or external both) returns the right chapter times. Let's hope its going to be fixed in the next release. (hm, maybe I could make a release now :))

Thank you Gabest. Seems fixed :D
What's more, you merged Haali's codes for font embedding, right?!
That is so impressive and long-awaited, I guess you should have noted about it in the changelog....:)

Well, but TCMP didnt get better with 1022. Some MKVs still dont play in TCMP with 1022, there should be some problems somewhere either in Splitter or in TCMP...

TCMP4 RC5 #45 can Play my MKV...

WITH Chapter ChapterTimeStamp WITHOUT Chapter
1020 YES OK YES
1021 NO BAD? *1 YES
1022 NO OK? *2 YES

*1 Some ppl can reproduce this prob; some ppl can not
*2 seems OK at least in MPC

Yes, Haali's code is there, but it only works under nt, he didn't use the older irreliable font loading function for 9x.

About TCMP I don't know much. What doesn't work? Is there a crash or hangs?

It hangs, and continue hanging even with latest splitter version on TCMP. Don't know if it's a splitter or TCMP issue....

Playing MKV with MPC is fine now and timestamps are OK.

Hi.

With new matroska splitter (1.0.2.2) MPC 6.4.7.8 last about 15 seconds to load a matroska movie with or without chapters ("Within Temptation - Mother Earth Tour LIVE (DivX5)(MP3 stereo).mkv" 683 MB).

With internal splitter in MPC 6.4.7.8 or with matroska splitter 1.0.2.0 it loads in very few senconds (immediately).

If the same movie is stored in a CD, MPC last 2 minutes more or less to load it with the new splitter (it is all the time reading from the CD before playing). With internal splitter or 1.0.2.0 it plays immediately.

So i think the problem is the new splitter reads the whole .mkv before playing it.

If i try to load a small .mkv there is no problem (if the problem is that splitter reads all the file before playing, it last very few seconds reading small files. I have not tried small .mkv in a CD).

Please anyone that confirm something like this. thanks

Sorry for my english.

Gabest I trust you :). Go on with the great work.

Yes, it hangs.
However, this prob was fixed in the latest test build.
So, probably, that was not MatroskaSplitter's problem, but TCMP's bugs.

I usually use MPC for almost anything, including RMVB and DTS.
I like MPC best in many respects--VMR-9 internal sub renderer among others.

One of a few things I like TCMP about is, it can show Track names.
In MPC's menu, you ll see something like:
English
English
Japanese
Japanese
While TCMP will display track names like:
No Karaoke [English]
With Karaoke [English]
Romaji [Japanese]
Kanji [Japanese]
...that is handy for (or ONLY for) subtitle nuts ^^;

Here's a real pic, just fyi

The problem stated above also happens with haali's splitter. With gabest 1.0.2.1 everything is ok (only the known chapter issue).

So the problem in gabest's 1.0.2.2 comes from haali's splitter. (Could be for searching the font file??? )

You see that's possible. I didn't notice it, but to find the attachments it really reads the file through the end. And because there can be many clusters on the same level (a little design flaw...) it takes a long time to reach the end of the file. Now I can remember that this was a problem with chapters as well, the solution was to quit looking for them after the first block of chapters. I'll probably do the same for attachments too, hoping there won't be more level 1 groups of attachments in one file.

Make contact with Mosu to find out if this is possible with MKVtoolnix.

Thanks for all.

Congratulations Gabest :). Now it works.

I have tested two matroska movies in CD (with and without chapters) and both plays immediatly in MPC and Zoom Player and the chapters are OK.

With "The Core Media Player" the same problem that happens before, if the movie do not has chapters it loads and plays perfectly but if the movie has chapters it can't load it

I have tried a movie with chapters that has another chapters inside (i think this is called nested chapters in english). And in MPC the children (most inner ones) chapters are not shown (I have seen then in "Core Media Player" with a previous splitter, so i think this has somenthing to do with the player and not with the splitter. Are you going to implement it in MPC?)

So thanks again :). If you need more testing i'm going to sleep in 2 hours more or less :)

This may be splitter-related...

This was reported by rom1v
http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=72531
and I can reproduce the problem this way:

1. Mux VP6 Video + Audio + Subtitle (eg SRT / IDX+SUB)
2. Seems MatroskaSplitter can't split the subtitle stream(s).
VobSub (that green icon thing) is not loaded
and DS Players cannot show the subs, tho some of them do play Video + Audio. (Some crash)
3. MPC can play subs too, with its internal splitter.

For 1, I used MMG first, then tried GraphEdit+MatroskaMuxer too,
but the resulit is the same. So I assume that this is not mkvtoolnix's porblem but Splitter related. All the filters used here are newest as of today.

The pic of graph and mkvinfo output are here: http://park14.wakwak.com/~flower/matroska/VP6/

sample file (2.4MB):
http://park14.wakwak.com/~flower/matroska/VP6/vp62-srt.zip

Thank you :)

EDIT

Sorry, seems that this is not related to MatroskaSplitter,
because DirectVobSub doesnt't work either (like foo.mkv and foo.srt in the same folder)

EDIT2

Problem fixed by using ffdshow for "raw video"
This is not even a right thread to post this. Sorry ...

MatroskaSplitter,

IMediaSeeking::SetPositions(&rtStart,AM_SEEKING_AbsolutePositioning,&rtStop,AM_SEEKING_AbsolutePositioning);
rtStop parameter is not working?

 what's your question? :p

mkvtoolnix can only multiplex AFAIK, so this is the expected behavior, you can have multiple video streams in matroska.

i was expecting to have the video played back-to-back like a single videostream... this is important since the clips im working on are made ... in both 24 fps and sometimes 30 fps ... i want one videostream with different fps in it .. is that possible ?

bond

well you have to join them of course ;)

what you did is muxing 3 different streams into 1 .mkv

for creating variable framerate mkv files have a look at the faq, which points to 3 threads describing how to do it

I'm having problems with the splitter, ever since 1022. Whenever I open ANY matroska, it plays for a few seconds and Windows says MPC needs to close. Haali's 1021 works just fine, but every 'official' version after that hasn't worked.

I tend to get two messages, one saying that the filter crashed:AppName: mplayerc.exe AppVer: 6.4.8.2 ModName: matros~3.ax
ModVer: 1.0.2.3 Offset: 0003da76and the next saying that mpc crashed:AppName: mplayerc.exe AppVer: 6.4.8.2 ModName: mplayerc.exe
ModVer: 6.4.8.2 Offset: 00001509
I've only tried it with mpc, but this happens with EVERY one of my mkv files, no matter what audio and video codecs used.

System:
P4 1.5ghz 512mb ram
Windows XP SP1
MPC 6482

Any help would be appreciated!

You probably want to try other players first. By default, MPC will use its own internal Matroska Splitter. Make sure you have the latest version of MPC. Also, if it occurs with every player, try rendering the file in GraphEdit to see if there are any strange filters openning up.

I just tried it in ZoomPlayer, and everything works just fine. GraphEdit shows nothing out of the ordinary either. I have the most recent version of MPC (6482), and I even reinstalled it (deleted the registry 'directory') but it still does the same thing. The video starts playing, although the timecode doesn't update, and a few seconds in it gives the two errors I mentioned above. I really have no clue what's going on; as I said, it does this for EVERY mkv file I have (including the Tokyo Mew-Mew test sample I downloaded long ago)

BTW, graphedit gives the following:
Video: in.mkv > Matroska Splitter > ffdshow > Subtitle mixer > Video renderer
Audio: in.mkv > Matroska Splitter > AC3filter > Morgan stream switcher > MatrixMixer > Morgan stream switcher 0008 > Default directsound device

I'm not sure why there are two Morgan stream switchers, but the filter list is the same no matter which version of MatroskaSplitter I use.

If you use Zoomplayer you shouldn't use MorganStreamSwitcher...although ZP has a black list of filters which weren't loaded during playback

Maybe MPC has also problems with this switcher (AFAIK MPC has an internal switcher, too)...so I would deinstall the MorganStreamSwitcher....maybe it helps.

I use MPC for playing everything. I just ran Zoomplayer to test the new matroska filter. I did uninstall the Morgan stream switcher, but it didn't help. The audio graph is now:
in.mkv > Matroska splitter > AC3filter > Default Directsound device

I just tested it on TCMP and mplayer2, and everyhting works OK. I guess the problem's just with MPC, which is really annoying. I really like the way MPC is put together, and none of the other players I've used have even come close.

I do find it hard to believe that I'm the only one with this problem. What was changed between 1021 and 1022? Just the font reading and chapter fixes?

Thanks again.

I think you're not the only one with this problem!

Look at this thread: http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=73699

cweb seems to have the same problem as you have...
