Been checking changelogs but I never did find this: Have they fixed the random characters in the bitrate on the Advanced dialog screen yet? That bug drives me insane.

Hello!
I can't decide whether it is an EclCCE bug or a DVD2SVCD 1.2.1 b3 bug. (Using CCE 2.67.00.19 or 2.67.00.20)
When DVD2SVCD uses EclCCE to load the modified ECL file the bitrate settings (and maybe other settings) doesn't change. If I press stop on encoding dialog and then manually load the same ECL file it works fine.
Just a guess: maybe DVD2SVCD starts encoding to early and EclCCE can't change the settings?
With earlier versions of this tools (DVD2SVCD, EclCCE, CCE 2.67.0.x) this worked fine.

I haven't changed anything in the ECL processing code for a couple of versions. I think it's an issue with DVD2SVCD, especially as loading the ECL manually works.

I ran the new script and yes (I first ran Ecl once).
I was trying to make a back up of finding nemo.(So the kids don't ruin my DVD, like they have with the rest of them )
I gots no DMA left to run anything,lol. CPU is @ 100%. CCSSTP.exe is at 100.00k, CCAPP.exe is at 4,164, CCEVTRMGR.exe is at 2,596,EclCCE.exe is at 44k,CCPXYSVC.exe is at 3,504,<-- (not sure if its related). I always set my priority to idle.IVTC came on but it has before and never had this trouble. Anyways I launched my newsbin pro reader and died,lol.Then recovery didn't work :(
was at hour 20 of 40 encoding time.waaaaaaaaaaaa.
Did I miss a bug fix? snivel snivel,lol.

CCE 2.67.00.21 is out.
History:
Version 2.67.00.21 Friday, November 7, 2003
Bug Fixes
- Chapter setting might not properly done when multipass VBR was selected. (standalone version)
(only after 2.67.00.16)
- Some bitmap files (not bitmap sequence) could not be encoded. (standalone version)
-------------------------------------
RB can you make a support for this again?
regards,
NA
ps: RB can you make ForceRun option in the INI file or something like that, so if the CCE version is not supported by the current EclCCE version it can ask to run it anyway? So next time (2.67.00.22) I'll just say ".22 is out and EclCCE force run works fine" :D

Any chance of getting a revision of ECLCCE that works with CCE Version 2.67.00.23. BTW, thanks for all your hard work.

Probably RB wont be happy but you guys want a solution.
So get a hex editor and patch
EclCCE.dll at 0x000056DC original:0x14 change to:0x17
EclCCE.exe at 0x00009080 original:0x14 change to:0x17
or
change your CCE version info to 2.67.00.20 (cctspt.exe)

thanky you for the great work done making ECLCCE.

Sorry for the silence. My real life is keeping me real busy so I have very little time to visit this forum and work on EclCCE. Anyway, new version with support for CCE-SP 2.67.00.21 through CCE-SP 2.67.00.21 is up.

I don't know yet, but seems to me that the version of EclCCE 1.7b have some problems with D2S: http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=67057

@RB:
Hi
I have a little feature request... :rolleyes:
It would be possible to add a command line switch to automatically run CCE on the tray?
(i'm running many small sequential encodes and CCE keeps popping up and down, the pc became unusable ^^)
PS:
many thanks for your great tool!
RB
11th January 2004, 16:38
@Mtz:
Has nothing to do with EclCCE. The CCE developers simply changed the registry key where the templates are stored. DVD2SVCD needs to be updated accordingly.
@jonny:
Good idea, but I don't have much time to add features to EclCCE these days. I'll keep it in mind and implement it in some later version.

hello all.
I read the whole thread and constat a lot of you are speaking about D2S.
unfortunatly I try to use DVD2DVD-R and have a pb.
after ripping and using dvd2avi , dvd2dvd-r wants to load CCe via eclcce.
At this time i got "unable to find the CCE window" , error 87 : the parameter is incorrect.
When I use eclcce 1.7b and CCe 2.67.00.23 apart (without dvd2dvd-r) everything works fine.
I got the same pb with 1.7 and CCe 2.67.00.11
RB
13th January 2004, 15:36
Sorry, nothing I can do about this. If it works by running EclCCE directly, then it is clearly a problem of DVD2DVD-R.
New version 1.8 (http://home.t-online.de/home/340044300675/eclcce.zip) is out
25/03/2004 v1.8
- Added: ability to run CCE minimized. CCE will be automatically
minimized to tray if EclCCE.exe is run minimized and the –ecl
and/or –batch/-encode switches are used. Requires CCE-SP 2.66.01.07
or higher.
- Fixed: Video/Audio/VAF file extension specified in ECL was reset to
CCE default file extension when loading ECL.
- Fixed: create_new_vaf ECL option was reversed. Now create_new_vaf=1
really sets "Create new file" and create_new_vaf=0 sets "Use
existing file".
- Fixed: under certain circumstances, the ECL file was saved as the
last video file dropped into CCE, overwriting the video file.
- Fixed: Cancel button in Encode Progress Dialog was sometimes still
accessible although it was set to be hidden.
- Enhancement: shutdown timeout extended to 30 seconds. Also the CCE
window is now brought to the foreground when the shutdown sequence
is initiated.

Whenever I try to load an ecl in CCE, I get this error:
GDipLoadImageFromFile failed : 3
This is with 1.8, and involves CCE SP 2.66.01.07 and 2.67.00.11
Sounds like GDI+ is not installed. This shouldn't be related to EclCCE. What happens when you just drop the file(s) to be encoded into CCE directly? Get GDI+ here: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=bfc0b436-9015-43e2-81a3-54938b6f4614&DisplayLang=en

Well that fixed it, for the moment. Now when I try to open CCE, it opens, and no GUI comes up. Shows on taskbar/taskmanager, but I can't get a window.
Right-click the CCE taskbar item, select "Move", use cursor keys to move CCE window into view. Looks like it's off-screen.
CeanD
25th March 2004, 21:53
Tried that to no avail. Move takes the cursor to the top right corner of the screen, and no matter where I move it too, it doesn't show up.
EDIT: That is regardless of desktop size.
EDIT2: Fixed!

When I try to open or save an ecl my CCE windows just closes down. The EclCCE.exe file goes away in my task manager also. When I save an project I get a .ecl file but it has a 0kb size. I have tried 2.66 and 2.67 trial versions with 1.7b and now 1.8. Is there anything else I need to do?
Thanks

@RB
Hi I downloaded your latest version 1.18 but now when I run CCE 2.50 the Cancel button is always visible, also when I use -nocancel (cmdline) or HideCancel=1 in your ini-file.
When I use CCE 2.67 the Cancel button is hidden.
In version 1.17 the Cancel button of CCE 2.50 was also hidden with these options.
Can you tell me why that is?
Thanks.

I have 2.66 trial installed and was trying to use it with DVD Rebuilder. When DVD Rebuilder brought up CCE I couldn't see the window at all like CeanD. But CCE looked like it was encoding. I uninstalled CCE and deleted the registry entrees then reinstalled it. Now when ever I try to open or save an ecl file CCE just shuts down. The CCE and EclCCE exe files go away in the task manager. Has anyone else had this problem? I have tried to uninstall and reinstall and still get the same problem.
@TFM_TheMask:
Sorry for that, will be fixed in 1.8a which I'm already working on.
@brikin:
I'll fix the "invisible CCE" issue. It's actually a bug in CCE-SP versions prior to 2.67.00.13, which version are you using?
However, I cannot reproduce the issue with opening and saving ECLs here. Tried 2.66.01.07 and 2.67.00.23. What OS are you running? Do you get the file open/save dialogs at least? What kind of video files were loaded into CCE and how (drag-drop or added from File -Add menu)?
brikin
29th March 2004, 18:22
I wish I would have never un-installed CCE the first time because it looked like it was working I just couldn't see the window.
I am using CCE 2.66.01.07 trial with EclCCE 1.8. I am using Windows XP. I am trying to use this with DVD Rebuilder.
If I have any file in CCE and try to save the project CCE closes down. I get a 0kb .ecl file. If I try to open an .ecl file CCE closes down. This happens not matter if I use the menu to open the file or drag and drop method. I have tried to open the .ecl files from DVD Rebuilder.
I can't understand why it wasn't doing this before and after a re-install these issues popped up.
If you need any other info let me know.
Thanks RB
Hmmmm, very strange. I just cannot replicate this here. I'm using XP, too. So you are saying that when you click the little disk icon in the toolbar to save an ECL, it immediately shuts down, no additional dialogs like the common "Save As" Windows file dialog?
brikin
29th March 2004, 23:21
Sorry about that I do get the dialog window. When I type in the name and press Save CCE shuts down. Like I said it creates a .ecl file that is 0 kb.
Add the following to your EclCCE.INIDebug=1. Run it again and try to save an ECL. What happens?
brikin
29th March 2004, 23:46
I added that line to my .ini file and CCE closes down the same as it did before.
Does CCE still work with jdobb's Rebuilder, IOW is it possible to load an ECL from the command line (see EclCCE manual)?
brikin
30th March 2004, 14:03
When I try to use ReBuilder I see a bunch of CCE windows flash in the task bar. I think it is doing the same thing I just can't see them.

@RB, thanks a lot for doing the new minimize feature (I suggested). It works just perfect for D2SRoBa now!
A very minor request for version 1.8a: I notice that the checkbox "Shutdown after encoding" seems to be a default button (DEF_BUTTON), which makes the mouse pointer jump to that button when you restore it with a single click in the icon tray (that is if mouse 'Smart move' is enabled - very common). A double click in the tray will therfore often toggle shutdown! Could you make it non-default? Also, a shorter label and width of the button would make it less likely to be checked by mistake. /Add: Removing the shortcut (&Shutdown = Alt-s) would help in that respect too.
/OT: Also thanks for the M2VRequant port you did. FYI, I now bundle it with D2SRoBa (source also). Did a fix, and a few mods:
- made output file non read-only
- added support for streaming (std in and out).
Version 1.8a is out31/03/2004 v1.8a
- Fixed: Cancel button could not be hidden via command line or INI
option for CCE-SP 2.50/2.62/2.64.
- Fixed: under rare circumstances, CCE unexpectedly closed when
loading or saving ECL.
- Added: Fix for "invisible CCE window" issue with CCE-SP versions
prior to 2.67.00.12 (see CCE-SP HISTORY.TXT).
- Added: sanity check on ECL files to display a reasonable error
message when trying to load an unsupported ECL format (CCE Basic).
- Added: -hideshutdown command line option. Global option to hide the
Shutdown checkbox in progress dialog, press Ctrl-Shift-S to
hide/unhide at any time.
@tylo:
Hope you like the new feature :)
About M2VRequant: did you actually build upon my original release? It's heavily outdated, Makira since released several updates to the engine and of course, Nic transformed it into ReJig, including Makira's updates. Maybe you should better simply use ReJig.

Thanks, RB - very nice.
PS: I did use your old M2VRequant build, and I know its a little outdated. However, Nic doesn't seem pleased with the latest versions of Makiras engine. Rejig 0.5e is from December last year, and the source contains 3 different versions of the transcoder engine. Rejig is quite big - I only need the engine with command line support. I guess I should ask Nic what to do - maybe I could pull out the "best" engine from his source. Finally, I never need to shave off more that about 4% (ie. compress ~ 96%) which seems to give real nice results even with that old version.
manolito

@RB:
After I suggested to add a transcoder to the D2SRoBa method I went to the ReJig thread and asked a couple of questions. Here are Nic's and Dragongodz' replies:
@manolito: Really depends on what is needed. If he is going from raw m2v -> raw m2v then he may as well use Requant. The engine's dont differ much at present, so he may as well use the latest ReQuant engine. The commandline will not change (unless someone wants it to change, I dont think it's being used at present). Just post if you need more info. -Nic
Manolito - ye basically what Nic said. for shaving 5% or so off it should be hard to pick any difference. however at low bitrates it still may be possible in which case the 1 of the tweaks which is in 1 of those test files should be better, maybe.
I also tested the two tweaked engine versions by Dragongodz, but could not detect any visible difference. So I think your original Requant port is just fine for D2SRoba.
Cheers
manolito
I see, you are using it only to shrink oversized encodes a little... clever :)
EclCCE 1.8b is out02/04/2004 v1.8b
- Fixed: compatibility issue with CCE-SP 2.50/2.62/2.64, jdobbs's
DVD-Rebuilder and command line ECL loading. No more AVIFileOpen
errors with DVD-Rebuilder generated ECLs for CCE-SP 2.50.
- Some internal code cleaning and small fixes.

Hi RB, do you have documentation for the .ini file? CCE 2.50 doesn't reveal access to EclCCE's global settings in the Options menu so I figured the only way to modify these settings, like the CCE Process Priority setting, would be through the .ini file.
The only two INI options supported for CCE 2.50/2.62/2.64 are
HideCancel=0|1 ; 1 hides Cancel button in progress dialog,
; default is 0
Priority=-1|32|64|128 ; for default, normal, idle, high process
; priority. Default is -1, this runs CCE with
; whatever process priority was assigned to
; EclCCE.exe

2nd April 2004, 22:12
I see, you are using it only to shrink oversized encodes a little... clever RB, that brings up another point. When you were doing that build I'm sure you never thought about somebody wanting to use requant to make a file bigger :) Just from curiosity, is it possible in theory?
manolito
3rd April 2004, 00:05
Hey DDogg, this is getting funny, I've been thinking about this, too. Is it just the command line processing in the various ReQuant incarnations that does not let us increase file size, or is this due to engine restrictions?
I tried to browse through the source code of RD's original Requant port, but it just made me dizzy. I've never been a "real programmer" after all, and I've always hated C code. :)
If this was possible it could sure make it even easier than it is now to fill the specified number of CDs to the limit without worrying too much about finding the right value for "Adjust %" in D2SRoBa. But it's already quite easy now, so I don't know if it's really worth the effort to modify Requant.
Cheers

@DDogg, manolito:
I don't know if it is possible, I doubt it. Really, I just made that code compile without errors in VC++, I actually have no clue as to how the engine works :)
Anyway, even if it is possible, it would of course not result in better quality.
