DVD --> AVI bitmaps

I'm going round and round in circles. Most people either take the DVD subtitle pics and translate that into text for AVI or take text and translate that to bitmaps for DVD authoring.

I want to layer the DVD subtitle bitmaps back into my avi. Does anyome know how to do that?

VobSub the DVD into idx/sub files and overlay them on AVI while playing using DirectVobSub. That's all.
