SUP format for IFOEdit

I'm trying to create a *.sup file for use by the authoring tool in IFOEdit. SubRip will rip the subtitle stream correctly and I can save it as a *.sub file. However, when I ask SubRip to "Save subpictures as SUP file", it simply produces an error stream, "Too small/Too short", (or something similar to that). What am I doing wrong?

When i use Vobedit with the doom9 guide, when i try to use ifoedit to make the final VOB files with the subtitle that i choose, an error message that say "insuficient data" or somethink like this apear. Always in the same place, is there another software that allow to make the .SUP files that ifoedit needs to make the final Vob files?, i read in another threads that Dvd2Dvd-r could do it?. i would like to make it with Vobedit.

the software page is your friend.. if you have a look at it ;) Sub2Sup converts vobsub subtitles into the format required by ifoedit. This is the only way except for vobedit. Sub extraction in ripping programs is currently useless because these streams don't contain timestamps and there's no software to produce a .sup stream out of a textual subtitle file.

Sorry, but you're wrong. DVD2DVD-R produce perfect SUP-files for authoring with ifoedit. The SUP-files produced by vobedit are useless if the Vob-ID change.

Thank you. I've used VOBEDIT to demux the subtitle stream to *.sup and it remuxes without problem in IFOEDIT. Actually what I'm trying to do is this: combine a PAL video and audio stream with an NTSC subtitle stream. I can do this, but of course the timing is way off in the finished product. I need the NTSC subtitle stream because it is the only English language stream available for this particular title. The PAL audio stream is in Cantonese. So, if I get a *.sup file from VOBEDIT, how do I modify the timing/framerate to match with the PAL video and audio? While I'm on the subject, which utility produces a pair of files, ( *.sub & *.idx ), that can be opened in VobSubRip? Smart Ripper produces an *.idx file, but VobSubRip doesn't want to open it.

Thank you Chatwalker. I've tried your utility, DVD2DVD-R, and it does indeed produce an IFOEdit compliant *.sup file. Do you know if it's possible to edit or adjust the properties of this file, prior to remuxing with IFOEdit?

That is exactly what I need to do. I have a uncut and cut version of a movie but it turns out the uncut one is missing some subtitles. I am taking them from the cut one and syncing up with the uncut. Planned on using IFOEdit to mux it all together without re-encoding. Don't know if I will be able to now.

You seem like a nice guy.
Why cant you create a software to only extract the subtitles to the correct .sup format for all of us who uses ifo-edit as author.

Why???.......Vobedit creates bad supfiles that can not be used,causes bad frames when authoring in ifoedit.:devil:
