Subtitle Size Error

Ive been having a problem Ive not encountered before, and I havnt found anything similar looking back thru the forum.
After completeing a dvd with scenarist I noticed when subtitles were turned on a Coloured Band appeared at the top of the screen, the band is approx 10% of the screen size and is always the colour the subs are set too.
I went back to subrip and noticed this line was produced on all the BMP files.
I tryed cropping with subrip, but the resulting stream causes a size error in scenarist.
ANY IDEAS?

Compare your VOB video size (720 x some1) to your BMPs size (720 x some2). You have probably some2 < some1. Set some2 to some1 - 2 in Cropping.

Thanx for answering.
I have played with different settings since posting.
The problem appears to be in the subtitle stream, the band is reprouduced on the BMPs when they are 720x576. Cropping them to remove gives me the incorrect image size.
I have tryed a few other sub rippers all of them give the same result.
I have got round this by using PHOTOSHOP to colour the top of the BMP on the 7 (forced subtitles I need) the other 1300 I have left as they were (IM NOT THAT KEEN)
