adding subs to dvd

i've been trying to add my subtitles back into my anime dvd that i'm backig up, but i haven't been able to get it to work. I've tried different programs and different guides, but it's no use. I always end up with some kind of problem. I'm a real noob to the whole subtitle thing, but i'm good at backing up my dvds now. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated. I'm about at my wits end here. :(

With VobEdit, i open the .vob files that i ripped with smartripper, i hit demux, select the subpicture stream, and i check demux complete title set and hit ok. I then save it and when i open up the folder that is suppose to have the subtitle file, it's there under the name i gave it, but it has nothing in it. It's just an empty .sup file with no text in it.

I've tried Subrip and successfully ripped the subtitles, but i don't know how to put them into the dvd when i author it as it's a .sub file, not .sup I've tried the sub2sup program, but that doesn't help.

I've tried VobSub to create a .sub file, but when i select the .vobs i'm using and the languages, i get unknown language selected, even when i have the english subtitle language highlighted and in the right side of the box. This is really frustrating. Can any one help me out, please? :(

if u have succesfully ripped the subs with subrip its less than easy to import them to Maestro for exmple. Just right click the subs section and import the son file u saved from the text window when subrip finished. They all will be there.

subrip them, save the text window in the same directory as the bmps. In Maestro right click the abc portion of the window in the 1st sub track import subtitle file and select the son file u saved.

After that open a sub click to the color tab and click on the color pallete button in the bottom of the screen. load the spf file subrip created with the son and u r done

I tried importing the .son subs and it says "no corresponding substitles were found. The video asset timecode may not correspond to the subtitle timecode in the video" or something close to that.

The only way i could import the subs was with the extention .stl but then i got a message saying "Subtitle assets are overlapping. I can also use "list subtitles" to check adjust subtitles that overlap. Well almost all of my subtitles are overlapping. If i can get them not to overlap, then i'll be fine. any help with this?

u can try and correct the offending ones in the list, but if there r a lot of them I would suggest to look aigain at the ripping proccess. There must be something wrong with the source. They sure don't ovelap in the original.

i've tried re-ripping the subs, and putting them back in, but no dice. What happens when i import the sub file, i get doubles of some of the subs, which causes the overlapping problem. Any ideas why that is happening?

And also, when i rip the subs and i open them in notepad, most of the words have spaces in them like "In th e be g i n i n g" for example. This subtitle thing is really starting to be a pain in the ass.

quit the ocr thing. The subs r already there. No need to re-create them letter by letter. Save them as bmps and use the son file for timecode purposes only. There r lots of threads about the matter. Hundreds of times easier than ocr. I gave up on the thing a year ago.

i finally figured out why my subtitles were overlapping. When i rip the subtitles in subrip, after every episode on my anime dvd, it starts back to 00:00:00:00. That's what's screwing me up with the timeline. now how am i suppose to get around this new problem? :(

when u select the ifo file to rip the subs from deselect the box just below the timecode in the right of your screen

How do you import the vob files in the DVDMaestro?
or can Maestro accept vob input at all?

Do you reencode the vob files in some way?
