BSplay cyrillic subs

Anybody who knows how to use russian subs with BSplay? My subtitlefile can be opened in MSWord. Word autodetects the text as "other encoding", cyrillic KOI-R, something like that. They appear correctly. In BSplay, however, when I select cyrillic, only the cyrillic characters appear, but the text is rubbish! What is wrong??

Try to convert the subs from koi8r to win-1251, using UniRed (http://www.esperanto.mv.ru/UniRed/ENG/index.html) or some similar app.

Thanks! I'll try that! But I can't help wondering why Word can open the text and not BSPlay. Is it possible to install additional charsets, so that conversions are not needed every time? Does BSPlay read Windows XP installed charsets?

I'm not quite sure, but koi8-r is none of Windows 'native' encodings, check this (http://koi8.pp.ru/winnt.html) or
this (http://ourworld.compuserve.com/homepages/PaulGor/full_koi.htm). Refering to these I think messing with charsets is not the best way to go.
Regarding Word, seems, it doesn't actually open those files rather converts them from koi to win.
Well try google for some koi8-r font for Windows, I think I once had one shipped with some prog (can't recall which one), and set it as subtitles display font in BsPlayer.
BTW where did you get those, I've never expirienced any subtitles in koi.
Maybe if you submit link, I might come up with some more practical suggestions.:)

I found the subtitles from Lord of the rings(extended). My subs are in Swedish, but I wanted Russian subs as well, which I found in one of the subtitle databases. I´ll try to find the link. Perhaps it was bad luck finding the K0I8-R charset. It is my first go with multiple subs in a movie. If not all subs are from that charset, others might work from just selecting cyrillic in the BSPlay subtitle setup. I will try your suggested converting program tonight to see if it solves my problem. :)
