SVCD style subs----> DVDsubs

My "problem":
I want to convert-transfer SVCDs to DVDrs. I have found many methods on how to merge files, transcode, trick the player etc. So far, so good. Chapters is not my #1 priority.
My question is:
I have made my SVCDs with DVD2SVCD with SVCD selectable subtitles.After doing a LOT of searching, I managed to extract the subtitles using Vob2sub GUI 0.1.1.4, as BMPs together with an accompanying little *.sub file. I suppose that means SVCD (Philips) format.
Now, how do I convert these to a format that IFOEDIT, or any other DVD authoring program recognizes - supports?
Any suggestions welcome.

Sorry to bump this old thread, but after searching all this time (on and off, of course) I still have not found the answer. As stated above, I can extract the BMPs and a *.sub file that states:

Submax 5 beta, still says wrong file or something.
Is there a header I must add or something?

Far from being a subtitle guru and having a direct answer, would it perhaps be easier to obtain the subtitles in a text format from a subtitle site on the web?

The tools I have seen will happily convert text-subs into .sup for ifoedit, but won't do the OCR step that would still be necessary in your case (.bmp->.txt).

Not a lot of information is available about the .sup format - I have no idea in which (bitmap) form the subs are stored and how to convert from your data (timed script + bmp) to .sup.

For conversion from a textsub file to sup, try dvdsupencode (from the suptools on this site) or perhaps srt2sup (http://www.shipleys.demon.co.uk/srt2sup.htm).

Just checked doom9's software section - there is also a tool to convert Iauthor subtitles to Scenarist. So you could convert your Philips-style script to Iauthor, then use S3 subtitle converter & author your disc in Scenarist.
