subtitles too big to fit in tv

Whenever I try to fit a big movie in a 4.7 DVD-r, when I Rempeg the movie to a lower resolution (from 720x576 to 352x576 PAL) and remuxed it in IfoEdit, the subtitles are huge!

Is there a way to change the resolution in subtitles ?

try to rempeg at 352x288 and u will retain the subs size.

When the picture is enlarged vertically from the tv set the subs r doubled in height.

or u can use photoshop to half the height of subs. They all end up in the same visual.

Have you tryed to see a movie at 352X288 ?
It looks like you're playing TETRIS on your tv :mad:

The quality is awful. Are there any general setting in ReMpeg to "stretch" a movie to fit in a 4.7 DVD-R ?

VCD is 352x288 and it streches to fill the television screen. The quality is vhs. It isn't bad. Any soft dvd player should be able to strech any valid frame size to fit the whole screen.

Of course if u r viewing this on a monitor u could run into some problems but I guess they r the same in 352x288 as in 352x576

Did you ever burn a DVD-R disk with that resolution? (352X288)
Does the DVD Player show it well ?

Because it's ok with VCD but I don't know what's up with DVD video.

dvd specs allow the use of mpg1 video stream at vcd resolution (352x288). Scenarist set a limitation bitrate at 1856kbs. At this res any excess of this is a waste of bandwidth. Maestro doesn't care at all. I have made a few miniDVDs at this res. I cant see any reason why Maestro would refuse to burn on a dvd-r if it succesfully burns the same image in a cdr.

If u deviate from full frame size and u r accepting the quality loss I believe that it is acceptable. After all it is vhs quality and we lived with it for quite some time.
