SpruceDVDMastero version 2.9 drag and drop the main movie then drag and drop the audio file ac3 and then last subtitles. I then formed together and then complied. Burning the movie wasn't a prob but then playing the movie on my dvd+rw disc i started seeing every 5 to 7 sec delay after NEO in matrix or any other character talk... please do i need to do anything in DVDMastero to change the time on the subtitle in DVDMastero so that the subtitles with be in synch. thanks for any response:confused:

Hi -- I think a good habit to get into is to write down the display time of the last subtitle from the source DVD. Compare this against the timeline in DVDMaestro (or SubRip, for that matter), so at least you don't waste a DVD-R.

I had a similar problem, and I think it's caused by the fact that SubRip saves the times using 30fps when DVDMaestro is expecting 29.97fps. I wound up with a kludgey workaround:

1. Read the subs using SubRip using .son (DVDMaestro) format
2. Convert the reading to .sub (MicroDVD) so SubAdjust can read it
3. Use SubAdjust to adjust the frame rate to 29.97
4. Open the adjusted .sub file and convert to .son and save
5. Import into DVDMaestro

This sounds pretty asinine, even to me, so I'm going to try using Subtitle Workshop. Unfortunately it doesn't support .son so I'm thinking about outputting to .ssa (Sub Station Alpha) and feeding that into MaestroSBT.

I too use DVDMaestro 2.9 and subrip and get async subtitles
what I do to sync it back is after I rip the subtitles (leaving Subrip open) I import them into DVDMaestro and see how much off the last subtitle is...if it's 10 seconds too late I just use the Time Stretch/Speed Adjust setting in subrip and subtract 10 seconds from it and re-import it back into DVDMaestro and re-time it. It usually takes me a couple times to get the timing right - but at least its sync.

I use my timex stopwatch to time it :D

Basically your problem is that Subrip is using drop frame but your m2v file is not.

I use CCE which creates an mpv file.
I then have to use pulldown version .99d to create the m2v file using pulldown and marking all frames as progressive then use pulldown again to make another m2v file with progressive frames and drop frames.

The two commands are run from the command prompt.
pulldown source.mpv output.m2v -prog_frames p
pulldown source.mpv outputdrop.m2v -prog_frames p -drop_frame true

There is more that needs to be done but this is all outlined in the Trilight DVD 9 to 5 guide. (an excellent read)
