Subtitles with Ifoedit095/Vobedit06

The instructions on Doom9 are a little out of date as there is now an automatic routine which runs the "Configure" app without having to open the terminal screen. When you click the open button you have to change file type to .ifo (the default is .idx and .sub).

I hope I have hit on a reliable method here! Ley me know how you get on

ok tried out the tut of you but i still get two .sup files

strange enough they are 768 MB and 750 MB

Thats what should happen. Just author these with IFoedit and it will work. Don't ask me why as I am no expert - I just try different ways until I find one that works. I think the reason this method works is because VobEdit v0.6 resets the timecode of the second sub (new vob) which gives the buffer underrun error. Vobsub does not have this problem so when Ifoedit authors it reinserts the second sub exactly where it should be in the new Vob.

Try it and see.

I have tried your method on Bad Company R2, works good, but I notice a small delay after a while, the subs are a little bit behind, maybe 5-6sec.

What can this be, any idea???

Did you rip the subs from an image file or from a direct file copy from your hard drive? I am no expert with this but I am told that with troublesome movies it is best to do your processing from an image file - don't know exactly why.

I did it from a img image, mounted the img file in Deamon tools, then video/audio in dvd decrypter, then Vobsub to demux .sub, then sub2sup, author in Ifoedit 0.95

How do I ripp subs in Vobsub from an image??? Vobsub wants *.ifo files, you asked me if I did it from an image or from a direct file copy. I don´t know how to ripp subs from an *.iso made by dvd decrypter....:sly:

I assume you have used Daemon tools to mount the .iso image and created a virtual DVD. You will then have a drive which looks like it has a loaded DVD with all the original files, including the vital .ifo file for the main movie PGC.

Once you have the image on your virtual DVD drive open vobsub configure and then click Open. Change the file type to .ifo and open the .ifo file for the main movie PGC and it will work fine. Vobsub works with .ifo files either as file copies or as part of an image set - it just seems to work when you do it from the image set, and not always from file copies (I do not know why!)

Some of you guys have been receiving the "Too Many Frame Drops...." error when multiplexing the Movie using IfoEdit with Subtitles, the problem is that the Subtitles that Smartripper rips, have a Timeline error so IfoEdit uses and invalid frame rate and the stream finishes before it's supposed to, so here's the solution to your problems.

1. Using "Smartripper" rip the Movie and Audio only to a specified folder.
2. Using "VobSub Configure" extract the subtitles directly from the DVD, don't need to rip movie first (Open, Change File Type to Ifo and Vobs)
3. After the 2 files *.idx and *.sub have been extracted using VobSub, use "SubtoSup" to convert this files to the *.sup format that IfoEdit recognizes (VERY IMPORTANT STEP) only this file will have the correct timeline, i have tried this with lots of movies and worked 100% every time, hope this guide helps.

Thanks for confirming this works (see my earlier comment in the thread). Its a shame that Derrow no longer seems to be working on Vobedit - this would probably be an easy fix and would avoid the need to use several different tools to get clean timecodes. Note that you do not need the original DVD to rip the subs from - just mount the image and extract using Vobsub from there.
