How to remove permanent subtitles??? if possible!!

I have somewhat big collection of movies +100 and they have perm subtitles. is there a way of removing them????

The only way to get ride of them is to reencode the video and use a blend/smear to try and smear all the colors around the subs into the subs and get ride of them.. But this is not recommended and Perminent subs are that Perminent they are part of the video data now.. So nothing you can do without losing alot of quality when you reencode to try and get rid of them..

of course u could very well mean forced subs. in this case u can unforce them in your authoring program and get rid of them.

The only way I know so far would be using some DeLogo filter on each and every single subtitle... which is major hassle... Classical smearing etc. just destroys the image way too much.

So.. it can be done (what cannot) but you basically have to redraw every single frame of video manually (with the help of a few utilities)

Hy, can you give us some examples to see if they are permanent or forced subs? Because, maybe they aren´t permanent ( i only have one permanent - Van Damme´s Inferno ). ;)

Take a photo image, then take Photoshop or any other photo editing program and put some text on it. Save the image as a jpeg with like 80% compression. Reopen it up in Photoshop and try to remove the text. You can clone the sections around the text, trying to guess what kind of graphics were there or you can just blur the area around the subtitle over the subtitle to make it so you can't see it as well. Either way you'll never get the same quality as the original image, even if you have the original image to look off of. That's what it would take to remove the permanent subtitles from your videos, only you'd have to do it 25 times per second for 90 minutes per movie. Not fun.

Of course you could make a bad situation worse and simply crop off the area where the subtitles are, but then you'd be losing a lot more detail than simply blurring.

I would just live with your subtitles, or buy the DVDs and reencode yourself and save the subtitles as text files instead (which is what I do with all my subtitled media).
