subtitles in Maestro

I have just been trying out subrip 1.06 (excellent prog to go straight to Maestro). After having read about loading the extra .spf file into Maestro I have now got the colors correct. However, some subtitles seem to have a line at the beginning and end of them. People have noted lines underneath when using PAL, mine are NTSC and at the sides. I have tried changing the minimum height and width in cropping, but it makes no difference.
Anyone any ideas...does anyone else see these lines....

i second that question ..i think that subrip 1.06 has another bug..if you rip subs from a pal movie again with 720 x 576 ..scenarist does not import the subs ...only if you rip it with 573..it does:(.....i prefer to use maestro ...so i do hope someone can come up with a solution for the lines underneath ....when i view my subs the whole subs get shifted up and down all the time ....its pretty irritating ...it also seems that most program developers write the programs with NTSC in mind ...and not with PAL :(....so i do hope that the great programmers of these amazing tools (respect to tha people who have created subrip/ifoedit/ifoupdate ...and many more)..KEEP PAL USERS IN MIND THE NEXT TIME:)

I can add something in this topic.

if u try to extract the subs of a vts_0x_0.vob to get the menu subs, subrip thinks it is a NTSC title and ripps to 720x480, loosing effectively the bottom subs.

Once again my movie is NTSC and my copy is NTSC and the lines are at the sides NOT at the bottom. PAL does not enter into this situation...

Thats kinda clear ..however ..i am just suggesting that PAL users also have this kinda problem (whether it is on tha side or on the bottom of tha freakin thing) ...so maybe if this thread becomes popular we could solve both problems ...no need to be jerky and selfish here !!!

Andykard: try to "crop" subtitles to the full MPEG-2 size (720x480...) if the problem remains.

caprioles9000: i do not authoring, but have read that some auth. tools need subtitles with 2 lines less than the mpeg-2 height. Scenarist is probably the case. So what values do you suggest to set as default in profile and in sst header?

maybe I wasnt clear here...the lines are at the sides of the subtitles (ie sometimes there is a line just before the subtitle begins and just after it finishes), not at the sides of the picture). I have tried playing with the minimum dimensions but that hasnt helped....sorry capriole...was not trying to be selfish, I thought you misunderstood my problem..I know these quirks are very irritating...

Will be better to demonstrate it on included picture.
But try to set the maximum size - and report if the problem remain.
Maybe the bad pictures have odd width and/or x-coordinate (same problem was with height).
