Hard to Rip Subtitles

I have the Taxi DVD and I'm hacing real problems getting the English subtitles off it.

Ripping tools show 21 subtitle streams but they are all empty
PowerDVD automatically shows the subtitles but doesn't give the option to turn them off
WinDVD shows the subtitles but does allow you to turn them off

I've ripped the video and the subs are defenitely not burned in.

They must be in some sort of hidden stream, does anyone have any ideas?

When you used SubRip, maybe the feature 'Only forced subs' set ON.

Set it OFF!

It's already set to off,

slipstream can't find any substreams

I can't find anything using ifoedit, couldn't manage to reveal anything with vStrip

Also when I use flask/xmpeg the subtitles are shown,
I think I know what may be wrong, I figured there must be a subtitle stream because you can turn them off in windvd, but the subtitles show in dvd2avi and xmpeg below the main video, maybe windvd is able to turn them off just by blanking out the bottom of the picture, is this possible?

dumping the line21 output for ccparser created a blank file, so I'm using sublog to capture the subtitles into a vobsub file
