I have been trying to get selectable subs to work using the SubRip, WinSubMux method with properly encoded SVCD files. I can't seem to get the subtitles to appear at all on my Pioneer 440. I have tried the SVCD and CVD settings in WinsubMux.

Do some DVD Players not play selectable subs?

Do any of you have mine or a similar Pioneer model and can get them to work (ie. maybe I am doing something wrong before authoring)?

Thanks in advance.

P.S. Is there an easy way to tell if I need to rip english subs for a movie without actually watching the movie to see if any subs are needed (like some settings in the .ifo file)?

Hi!

IMHO Pioneer DVD-player don't play any SVCD-subs (no matter if CVD or SVCD-style).
