"The Matrix" subtitles asset overlapping

I ripped "The Matrix", to M2V and AC3 files.
Then shrinked the M2V files to fit on 1 DVD-R.

I ripped the subtitles (Dutch) with Subrip as:

- a lot of BMP files
- a .son index file

DVDMaestro did not accept the .son file because of "asset overlapping".
When I checked the .son file I saw that the timing of some subtitles overlapped each other:

I do not want to waste my time by editing all the entries manually....
I searched the internet for Dutch subtitles in .son format, but could not find any. Also another formats of the Dutch subtitles showed the times, but the intervals differed too much.

Questions:

- How can this be solved (I mean with subtitles) ?
- Is there a way to modify entries in the VOB files to correct this problem ?
- Does somebody have the Dutch .son file in a correct format of "The Matrix" movie ?

after inserting the subs on the timeline in maestro right click on it, the timeline, and choose list subtitles. The ones with time overlap problem are in red. Shift the timecode approporiately so they dont overlap anymore.

found this thread as the most relevant to my problem, although ancient.
I'm getting the same 'overlapping' error when inserting the subs into Maestro. The source SRT file is error free and overlapping-free. I convert it to STL file using Subtitle Workshop (only appl I've found which keeps the line breaks intact...). Checking the STL file - still ok, meaning all timing is exactly as in the SRT source file.
Trouble is, after importing into Maestro, I get the famous error msg, checking with 'kist subtitles' I see that numerous lines have been changed to odd timings, making this correction a tidious job and a puzzeling fact.

My questions are:
1. Something I'm missing in the conversion process?
2. During the Import (where the problem occurs)?
3. Some icon I should pay attention to in Maestro prior to Import?

Use the program `SUB2STL`it works with .srt files and the .stl file is imported correctly into DVDMaestro.

I think I have thought the solution to your problem. The vodids that make up the movie r reseting their timecode. Just check the relevant box in subrip, in order to avoid it. U can find it in the language selection window.

Hi oddyseus and thanx for replying,
seems like when using vobsub - everything is ok. I was using subtitle workshop and for some reason I don't yet understand, Maestro failed to accept what looks like an identical file to what subrip has produced.
So, without further investigations, I simply use subrip for the srt to stl conversion and all is just fine!
