I have an anime disc im trying to rip. All the episodes are globbed onto one series of vobs and each has its own pgc. when i try to rip an individual pgc with smartripper, it screws up the subtitles. i have tried doing a full 'backup' of the dvd and then using ifo edit to isolate episodes. It rips the first episode fine, but none of the other episodes get subtitles. rather, vobsub will let me make subtitles, it just wont load them when i run the avs file. i noticed a post about subtitles not appearing. when i open the ifos in subrip, the subtitles are there, ditto with subresync. any suggestions?

Second question to go along with this.
how exactly does muxing subtitles into avis/ogms work. from what i've read, i converto to ssa scripts and multiplex into the video stream. is this correct?

I've had this problem, too. Sometimes the subtitles for the 2nd episode don't start at 0 but simply continue after the first one. After ripping the 2nd episode's subtitles with vobsub open the .idx file and insert a delay of exactly the length of the first episode.

This has helped me sometimes. Maybe you need to sync the subtitles a little.

Concerning your second question: You can mux ssa subtitles into avis with submux which is part of the vobsub package (mp3 sound may not have been muxed with nandub, though). AFAIK ssa subtitles can't be muxed into ogm files currently.

actualy i figured out what was happening. somewhere along the line i had made all the colors in the coustom colors box transparent. apparently after striping out the episodes, ifo edit screwed up the colors, making everything green. when i went into vobsub to fix this i must have hit all the boxes in the make transparent line, and then had that save for next use. the subtitles came up fine once i fixed that.
