When I use submux in vobsub, the output file is only 226kb, i don't get a fully muxed avi file. What am I doing wrong???

you're muxing VBR MP3 video file. VBR MP3s use a "features" (read: bugs) in DShow AVI parser to play back properly, as VBR audio is NOT supported in AVIs (by definition of AVI format). Use OGMs, they can handle VBR MP3s, video stream and subtitles all together.

As we figured it out in another thread a few weeks ago, a cbr mp3 can also have the same problem if it was mutiplexed using nandub's mp3 source reader.
