help editing subs

I'm using gordian knot, nandub and vobsub. I'm trying to edit the subs but I'm trying to keep them in vobsubs format. Is there a program that would make things easy or is there a way to edit using vobsub? What would be the simplest way to edit the subs?

For me, the easiest and only way to edit them is to convert to SSA format, and then open them in Sub Station Alpha (http://www.eswat.demon.co.uk/substation.html).
