View Full Version : How to change the frame rate for a DirectVobSub file?

I have ripped a movie in NTSC format 23.976 fps ... but it didn't include the subtitle that I want ... Later a guy gave me the subtitle in DirectVobSub format ... but I discovered that it was taken from a PAL DVD 25 fps ... My question is how to convert the subtitle now from 25 fps into 23.976 fps ... I tried SubResync, but it didn't work with me ... there is no option to convert the frame rate ... I would do it easily with SubAdjust if it was a text subtitle ... but unfortunatly it is not ... any help would be appreciated ...

If it is in .idx/.sub files then you shouldn't have to change the Framerate since they are time based sub format.. not a framerate based.. But if they are still off read the subresync.txt doc.. It will tell you how to resync by using a few spots to get the subs back ontime.

yeah ... they are .idx/.sub files and they are in time based format ... I tried to resync using the delay command ... it worked for a little bit ... and then the problem arise again ... I understand from your reply that there is no way to change the frame rate ... since it is time based ... probably you are right ... I can use the delay command ... but it will take some time ... and I have to apply it many times ... thanks for your reply anyhow ...

Just use subresynch to synchronize your subtitles to the video.

When you use SubResync to modify the times.. you can set the beggining time.. then a midpoint time and then the end time and it will interpolate the times and adjust the rest of the times accordingly.. Just open the doc on subresync and it will tell you more things you can do..

That's weird, I'm pretty sure that there was a reply here from one of the users suggesting a solution to convert PAL subs into NTSC subs and vice versa using the timing tab in DirectVobSub configuration, and then modifying the speed ratio from 1000/1000 to be something like 958/1000 in the case of converting from PAL to NTSC. I'm not sure about the exact numbers he posted, but it was so close and you could try it out until it is synched.

I'm confused as I thought that no one could delete his posts. He can edit them, but he can't delete them entirely or that what I thought.

Anyhow I just want to know how can I save the new ratio into my .idx file?
