It's because I switched to -mp2enc instead of -2lame when executing Besweet. I was told by DSPGuru they did the exact same thing. But perhaps the -mp2enc switch didn't work in the Besweet version that came with build 2. Anyway, I have switced back to -2lame again. Sorry about that folks. I'll post an update soon (or maybe I'll just release build 3)

that explains, maybe, the following:
doing a test with a chapter of 'amadeus'.
dvd2svcd 1.09b2 working fine;
1.09b3 pre 22 (with 2lame), working fine, too;
1.09b3 pre 24 (with mp2enc), no sound at all :-(
switched back to pre 22, & all is well :).
enjoy betatesting.
hope i did not do anything wrong, for my first post

Hi DVD2SVCD,
I'm far from a professional beta tester nowadays. However, I have found one in my first test with RC version. Unsing the CVD resolution, there is no permanent subtitle plugin neither avisynth subtitler in the avs file. However, the bmp files were created (but the permsub.txt not). I have used "recover".
BTW: the CVD resolution is a nice improvement.:) Strange I just tested this and it worked. Please post your dvd2svcd.ini file here.

This is a funny one ! I tried the beta24 release, to rip my 1st NTSC DVD to PAL, 1st time with CVD size option, all the rest as before. It failed due to the fact the requested mp2 encoding stereo at 192 kb/s ... became a mp3 encoding at 128 kb/s :confused:

Last week, I manually made trials using lame to produce mp3 128 kb/s output (seems some people suceeded to make non standard SVCD with mp3 audio and play them on a Pioneer DV-444). I nevertheless deleted the whole "Movie" directory since then. Can this problem be linked to that or is it a bug ? It is anyhow strange that the last option in the besweet command is -mp2enc (was before -2lame in v1.0.9b2). Thanks in advance for your help. avdmb.

Quick question:
Is the Build 3 that was available thru this thread now the same that is at the DVD2SVCD homepage?
I just want avoid causing further congestion at the DVD2SVCD homepage if I do not have to download it again.
Thanks
sandchar99
OOOPS!!: I meant to post this under the "Please beta test this, thanks. (RC)" thread.
MODS: please delete this or answer it or move it to that thread.

Hey DVD2SVCD, I tried the MPEG 5.1 option, the result was a SVCD with 6 channels but with only the front speaker channels working (L & R). I have a Philips 707 DVD Player with build in 5.1 decoder, and of course I'm using I-Author. If you put the disc on the player, it gives you a "MPEG 6 CH" display(with a stereo SVCD it says "MPEG 2 CH") but all the sound it's mixed at the front speakers :confused:. With the previous version of besweet, it gave you the same L & R channels but the center channel was mixed in the R channel only :confused: :confused:.
Here's my log, and thank you for all the hard work you did in this program.

@sandchar99:
Quick answer, I think it's not the same, as the new one is a little bigger in filesize, but dvd2svcd can be more specific on that. ;)

@gerti67
However, the size difference could be the difference between an uncompressed EXE file and a ZIP file.

Thanks for moving this post

@sandchar99:
I know, I was speaking in both cases of the filesize of the "D2S109B3.exe" - the bundle installer not any ZIP files. ;)

Tell me dvd2svcd is this a bug or just a fix for bbmpeg.
A lot of ppl (me included) while using dvd2svcd in conjunction with my guide:
http://forum.vcdhelp.com/userguides/98376.php
Have found that dvd2svcd makes a forth useless image file. Now this is completely harmless as once as you don't burn it. But just wondering is it a bug or just a fix for the last version which crashed a lot in bbmpeg?
Thanks a lot,
Baker

Mr. DVD2SVCD (I remember someone called you sir once and you flipped off the handle :rolleyes: it was classic)you should delete that beta zip bundle from your website and/or edit your first post in this thread to removed reference to it.
@baker..nice guide btw...anyway within this thread you'll see a post by dvd2svcd made on June 20th
"It's because I switched to -mp2enc instead of -2lame when executing Besweet. I was told by DSPGuru they did the exact same thing. But perhaps the -mp2enc switch didn't work in the Besweet version that came with build 2. Anyway, I have switced back to -2lame again. Sorry about that folks. I'll post an update soon (or maybe I'll just release build 3)"

Hello guys,
Tried the 5.1 option and everything seems fine until I checked the .cif file in my folder.Nothing was there.I assume that instead of cue/bin files generated when using vcdxbuild,.cif files are generated which are then burned.Please correct me if I am wrong.If somehow the I-author program failed to generate the cif files,how do I make/restore it?Is there also a way to restore the project using Vcdxbuild?Also,which software shall I use to preview and/or burn the files.Shall appreciate your help as this is the first time I used I-author/5.1 option.Below is my log file:

I try to rip a DVD to a SVCD with 5.1 multichannel mpeg with the new version 1.0.9 build 3.
Works great for me, but if dvd2svd starts the i-author demuxer i have a problem here:
mux starts, then mux gives a warning: Maximum bitrate is 2754000, will not be acceptable!
and then dvd2svcd starts mux again and again and again...
here is the log:

Your problem is neither related to dvd2svcd beta version nor 5.1 audio. Simply, Video max bitrate 2530 + audio bitrate 224 = 2754 > SVCD max of 2748. I-Author is extremely picky about this, and won't accept non-standard SVCD bitrates. 2 solutions : lower video bitrrate to 2500 (keep some margin versus theoretical max, as both CEE and TMPGEnc are not so strict with respecting max bitrate) or use another muxer.
I try to backup a dvd, but when is time to mux it... ever appar this error, but before show a window with this phrase BBMEPG ERROR "mux start time is greater than the total time 1251 seconds"

I have same prob as WIZARD237. CIF files not created. When I try to create image manually from I-Author, I get an error that size available required exceeds available. I have 76 gig left, stil get the error. Strange. My max bitrate is set to 2528, Audio @ 192. This is less than MAx SVCD standard. Not sure what do to next. :(

The same here :devil:
After 5 days of attempt I'm unable to get I-Autor to work.
I think that some other tool is needed to build the images !
Building an image from a one .VOB don't give me "space" errors but the cif image is not working :devil:
In this case CDMage, but also WinISO, reports that the image is corrupted.

@hitch
If you're using Win2K/XP go to the I-Author folder, select the program executable, right click on it, choose properties, then choose the "compatibility" tab, select the "Run this program in compatibility mode for" box, and make sure it says "Windows 95". That should fix your problem. :D

@caleb
I'd have never thought of that, but in retrospect it makes sense. Thanks, I'll try it, hope it works.
PS
Turns out I can only see compatibility mode in Windows 2000 if I right click on the shortcut for the program. Right clicknig on the executable file itself doesn't show the compatibility option. Weird. I'll try to see if this solves it and let folks know.
The problem with disk space is disappeared, but the .cif images still don't works :(
I can open the .cif only with ISOBUSTER. Yesterday I have installed Easy CD Creator 5 for direct burning of cdxxx.cif.
My Philips DVD 722 recognize the disc as an audio CD with two tracks !!!
My Lite-ON DVD can read it as "blank"...
Any tips can help :-)

Have you tried to convert it to bin/cue using CDMage ?
Yes.
After this I have done some attempts to convert the .cif using WINISO. But it reports that the image is broken. With Isobuster I can see the SVCD structure, but this software can't covert between ISO, CIF, NRG..
I have done many attempts using CBR and VBR, with CCE and TMPEG, and also with only one 5.1 language/audio tracks :-(

It has been a long time since I used IAuthor and have to deal wif .cif, but if I remeber right, only EasyCDCreator 4.x can handle the cif form IAuthor, ver.5 will fail.
But you can convert them with CDMage (I use ver. 1.02.1 beta5, beta is important, other versions will give an error) and burn with CDRwin, Fireburner, Nero etc.

I'll post an update soon (or maybe I'll just release build 3) just tested it, and it works fine. but only since v1.4b...

Yes, that is true, but you see in my beta releases I hadn't updated BeSweet som many of the users were still using 1.3x ;)

Many thanks but CDMage 1.02.1 beta5 can't convert cif images created by IAuthor on my system :-(
Only Isobuster can open this .cif, but the files can't be extracted.
bye and many thanks
