- Enhancement: Added support for MPEG5.1 Audio using philips encoder. You must use I-Author as the CD-Image create program otherwise your SVCD will only have ordinary stereo sound. :cool:

- Bugfix: The selected Fieldorder is now being saved properly in the dvd2svcd ini files.

- Enhancement: Deselecting 0 second chapters by default when using internal ripping, this fixes both sync issues and CCE chrashes.
- Bug fix: If changing any settings after the ifo file was loaded could make the "Aspect ratio" field empty.
- Bug fix: IO Error 87 in either "Audio Extraction" or "Subpicture extraction" fixed. The error appeared if an external ripper had been used to make one big vob file > 4 Gb.
- Enhancement: You can the order of TemporalSmoother, Sharpen and Resize.
- Enhancement: Added support for the DVD Half Width size (also called XSVCD size) 352 * 480/576.

One chapter tested last night. No problem with changing the order of filters.

Tonight I will try with the MPEG5.1 feature.

Some clarification: what should be used as the MPEG5.1 encoder. BeSweet (or the Philips 7.1 encoder from the Philips tool package)? If Besweet, will all settings be automatic for the transcoding?

I-Author must be used for the muxing, correct? Is it still assumed that only a few DVD standalones can play the discs properly?

Tried to do the MPEG5.1 but no luck from the start.

I copied my DVD2SVCD1.09b2 folder and placed the new beta version in it. I removed the Dvd2svcd.ini so that a new one would be created when the new beta version was executed for the first time.

I filled in all of the new locations for all of the programs (vstrip, dvd2avi,etc.)

I loaded the IFO off of a DVD with a 6channel AC3. I set it to Advanced Level. However, on the audio tab, the "Do not convert audio" is greyed out and the "MPEG5.1 Encoder" will not drop down to allow me to select the "pub_enc.exe" location


My new DVD2SVCD.ini file looks correct, I think, and of course this line is left blank.....

So I do not know what to do next.

Thanks for letting me test MPEG5.1 feature of the beta version. All supporting programs were the same as the DVD2SVCD 1.09 b 2 package. The MPEG encoder is the Philips Encoder from the link above.

Disc Tested: American Pie , region 1 , NTSC. Chapters 2 and 3.

Results:

1) Program executed without difficulty. Notes: BeSweet transcoding is slower than usual (1.3build 12 dll). I-Author gives a warning that audio and video may be out of synch (I never use I-Author. I suspect this warning happens all of the time.)

2) SVCD plays on WinDVD and standalone Genral Electric 5803 three disc changer. My stereo receiver is Dolby Pro Logic not Dolby Digital. I used standard outputs on the standalone, not the component outputs. Left Audio (front) channel on PC and standalone is very hard to hear.

So, I'll try the disc on a friends stereo. But, I suspect, the MPEG5.1 simply won't be transcoded properly for play on standard equipment. Obviously, the AC3 6 channel track on a DVD plays fine on all equipment.

For the mean time, I'm likely to stick with "Stereo" output and trying to decide between the 2 and 6 channel AC3 track to transcode to MP2.

Unfortunately, it's at home on the PC and not here at work on the SVCD disc. I am not sure, but I know that I-Author does not give the option to include that "extra" folder that includes the SVCDinfo.txt which at least has the BeSweet command line.

I will post the logfile when I get home.

@DVD2SVCD: I know that the log file is not complete until DVD2SVCD is complete. However, it might be a nice option along side "Include XML on CD" and "Include Movie Info on CD" to have the option to "Include the nearly-complete logfile on CD" when VCDXBuild is used.

I'm one of those people who run DVD2SVCD overnight, burn the images in the morning while I am showering, and take the discs with me to work to look at the result. I do most of my posting to this forum at work where I don't even have access to a DVD-ROM to play with settings, etc.

the reason you found BeSweet slower than the usual, is the fact that you usually doesn't use SSRC.

btw, i think i heard that the phillips encoder does a better job encoding to 5.0 than to 5.1, so you might wanna check this too (using -5chaiff).

And i am trying and trying to get 5.1 in the mpeg but it shows 2.0 stereo when i play the mpg file in powerdvd tried a lot of settings etc but cant get it to work right now.

DVD2SVCD - just a quick observation with this new version is that when you select the 'sharpen' filter in the 'frameserver' tab the values that you put don't get carried over to the 'preview video' window when viewed. 'Temporal' filter works fine. Just incase you did not know :)

any chance of making the preview window fit on my 800x600 screen? I always have to drop the color down to 256 colors just so I can see the whole preview window, but then it's not much use since a dvd looks pretty horrible at 256 colors.

edit: almost forgot, while i'm on the subject of saving us who have small monitors: is it possible to change the AVS editor so it can be minimized? It's awefully hard to work around it, thanks

i think i'll just break down and get a new video card.

about the avs window thing: my hopes would be that both windows could be minimized with the press of a button on the avs editor. It'd be even better if they could be minimized to the tray.

1.0.9 build 2 works fine when you select auto shutdown, rip only, then execute batch file. However, I've tested these last two beta releases and it seems like auto-shutdown is not working. If I check auto shutdown close dvd2svcd and re-open it it'll still be checked.

in my main dvd2svcd program folder in dvd2svcd.ini it shows
Automatic Shutdown=1

Then if I choose rip only with Auto shutdown checked and look at the dvd2svcd.ini file within the default output folder it'll have 0 even though it should be 1.
Automatic Shutdown=0

Can anyone else confirm/deny this is a bug or not? After batch encoding a few movies I'd wish it'd shutdown like it did with 1.0.9 build 2.

never mind...I just checked with pre24 and Automatic Shutdown=1 is in dvd2svcd.ini...guess it must've been pre22 only.

I try the beta version of new program, for make a surround compatible svcd, all finish good and i think but (like i wrote in another post that for my wrong finish in the wrong place in the forum, sorry) when i try to read with my dvd player, n both when i use intern decoder, or i select raw output n use a aplifier/decoder, i listen only in front speaker. I try to mux a test audio file (with i-author) but the surround speaker i hear in front, this mean my players dont work, right? some one can suggest me what players can use it, i read philips n sony, right? that for the helping n for try to understand my bad english;)

FYI, I used besweet 1.3 with the pre24, bbmpeg hung at 54%. I reinstalled the version that comes with dvd2svcd 1092, recreate the audio file, then crash recovery at "muxing & cuting", it worked. The audio I selected was stereo.

I have the exact same prob with bbmpeg...can you be more specific on how you fixed it? Sorry, I deleted the Log and started over. I was doing an AVI2SVCD. BBmpeg stopped at exactly 54%, several times. The MPA file was unplayable, it would load in mediaplayer but a loud squeal was all that would play. The MP2 file played fine?! I uninstalled and reinstalled as 109b2 and it worked perfectly.

I have the same problem with bbmpeg at 54% but I was doing a direct DVD to SVCD with PRE24.

i'm also having that problem with BBMPEG its stops at like 53 or 54% i'm using the latest pre version 24 also.

OK, I did another test and aparently PRE22 doesn't have this bbmpeg problem. This result is not definitive since I also had to change computers:

Movie: Behind Enemy Lines

On one computer with WinXP OS and Pre24: bbmpeg stops at 54% having created the file bbmpeg_muxed_file00.mpg (813,759 KB). Playing this file on PowerDVD 4 or WMP 8 it has no sound. By the way, bbmpeg just stops working, it doesn't crash, it responds to commands but it does nothing further.

On the other computer with W2K OS and Pre22: no problems.

yeah I kept having bbmmeg stop at 37 percent each time...tried recover a few times and even resinstalled 1.0.9 build 2 but it didn't work. First time ever I've had a problem with bbmpeg crashing or freezing.
