Is it technically possible to insert subs permanently into VCD/SVCD files ?

Hello !

I was just wondering about that, as I have seen the question come up so often, and I have never seen a good answer .
I also checked doom9's guides, but it doesnt say much on this subject .
Thing is, many people that use home DVD players want to make VCD's out of their DivX movies, and before could use external subs . Now they need the subs into the MPEG/MPEG2 (btw, this is another thing I have never quite understood : are VCD's also MPEG2 files or just the SVCD's ?) .
If anyone has already done that and knows how, I would very much like to know .
Or if I have somehow overlooked something important in the guides, tell me .

A lot of people (OK, not me, I admit, as I do not use (S)VCD's) would profit from a good answer .

Also check some more info on vcdhelp.com, so you will learn everything you wanna know about the different formats like VCD, SVCD XSVCD etc.

First of all, thanks for taking the time to reply :p

It is quite a concidecnce that I found that exact same site yesterday before reding your post, and being spontaneously amazed at the amount of guides they offer, and at the detail and comprehensiveness of said guides .

I am rather sure that I have a much clearer picture now of what to do :sly:
