Ok, this question has bug me for sometime now. Latest subs files from releases are quite big ~15mb (uncompressed) + do not contain IFOs. For a particular 2CD movie, I was able to find a perfect 2CD srt files for that movie which drop the subtitle file to less than 1mb (packaged original subs uncompressed to near 15mb). I found the SRTs in the web so I could not ask that specific person on the details how is it done.

I have downloaded just about every single subtitle converter but still cannot duplicate. Does anybody know the "secret" or specific program used? VobSub seems to be able to convert to SRT but if the IFO is available, theoretically I guess, I have not tried it.

If you know how to do this, please be so kind to share the procedures. Thanks

I am not sure which version started it.. But if you get the Newest VobSub 2.14 and load your idx/sub file into SubResync you can convert this to srt files. This will do Semi-OCR on the vobsub file.. You will have to input char's so it "learns" which chars are which. Also you can compress your sub files with winrar to make them alot smaller.
