View Full Version : Flickering video on playback when using ogg subtitle mixer

Greetings all.

When I create an .ogm and mux in a .srt-formatted subtitle file, I experience a strange flickering problem. By and large, the video displays fine. However, the bottom few lines of video (ten to twenty or so) get wrapped around to the top of the video and flicker.

My video encoding machine is not network connected, so I don't have a picture to show exactly what's happening.

Detailed information:
-when no .srt-format subtitles are muxed into the .ogm file, the video plays back as expected.
-when .srt-format subtitles are muxed into the .ogm file, the video which is played back is flawed. This happens even when the subtitles are merely multiplexed in the stream and are not turned on for playback.
-the top 10 or 15 lines of the picture displayed should instead be the bottom 10 or 15 lines of the picture.
-there is a black dividing line between these displaced 10 or 15 lines and the rest of the rendered video. This dividing line seems to be a single pixel high.
-the top 10 or 15 lines of the picture seem to flicker with a frequency of about half the framerate of the rendered video. On my .ogm where I am seeing the problem, it seems to flicker at a rate of about 10Hz, which is about half the framerate of the video. Even though this video flickers, it still keeps up with the rest of the video (i.e. it doesn't get "behind" the rest of the video).
-if there are subtitles that should have parts of the letters rendered in the bottom 10 or 15 lines of the video, those parts of the letters that appear in this part of the video appear in the upper, flickering part of the rendered video. The subtitles "wrap around" vertically.

Hope this helps.

I've done some exploration; it seems that this only happens when the aspect ratio of the video you are playing back does not equal the aspect ratio you have set in the filter properties.

This is really a pain in the ass bug, I'd like to know if someone is working on a fix.

Hi,

Same pb, but when the then video is 16/9 (or when then 10 or 15 bottom line are black) it seems OK.
I have to do more tests.
Hope that someone could fix it.
