Video background in MaestroSBT

I get an "Error loading background movie" dialog when I try to load an .m2v video file into the background to check subtitles in MaestroSBT. It's supposed to accept MPEG2 files, right?

BTW, I don't have a hardware MPEG2 card. I'm using the Cinemaster software to preview the video in DVDMaestro.

MaestroSBT has only specific support for MPEG1 video. All other video formats are handled through the Windows MCI. But I suggest you the following: create a DVD2AVI project from your .m2v file and use VFAPIConv to make an avi file out of it. AVI files are supported.

Geez, I just realized that YOU wrote MaestroSBT. Cool! It's a great program.

One more question--using the method outlined, I was only able to make a movie with video, but it had no sound. I couldn't figure out any way to add it to the AVI with the tools mentioned, either. Did I miss something, or is there another utility I have to use?

No, that kind of AVI cannot have sound, AFAIK. Anyway, MaestroSBT has no sound support :(

Is there a pre-determined limit to the length of the AVI file that MaestroSBT will work with? I'm working with a 90-minute movie but the video preview stops advancing at around 27 minutes. The AVI seems to be fine when I play it in Media Player.:confused:

No limit I'm aware of... MCI reports the AVI duration to MaestroSBT, and MSBT uses that value as it comes. Nothing weird. I'll make some tests with long AVIs (>90M) and see what happens.

I too have the duration problem when trying to view a avi made from the VFAPI converter.

Another problem I have, which I don't know if it's Maestro SBT or DVD Maestro... But when I have a subtitle already, and then another subtitle appears on top of it, while the first subtitle is still there, the first subtitle shifts down just a bit. When I preview the subtitles in Maestro SBT, it doesn't do that. Any help is appreciated.

Sorry I cannot help with the >90M thing... I have no idea what it could be, and I have no time at the moment to check it :(.

About your shifting problem, Jotarou... you can check double click on the imported subtitles in DVD Maestro to see if they are correctly placed. Try using "don't clip bitmaps" in MaestroSBT to see if that corrects the problem.
