My goodness Lowpro you really have taken this far beyond the expected. Great work. Cheers CDThanks for the kind words and yeah, I've come a long way since my first "Quick-Play" menu with BD Rebuilder. Re-authoring Blu-ray's has become an obsession thanks to BDedit. Great way to pass the time while I'm strapped in this chair here at work waiting for the next support call to come in. In fact, I just finished re-authoring another Blu-ray. Pics of the TOP MENU shown below. :p
TOP MENU:

(Navigating "LEFT/RIGHT" wraps around at either end. Navigating "UP" performs the same action as pressing "OK". Well, only in cases where pressing "OK" would take you up a level within the menu. Navigating "DOWN" is used to return to the previous level of the menu.)
PLAY:

I revisited my re-authoring of "The Island of Dr. Moreau (1996)" last night as I didn't care for how the original disc handled both versions of the film. With the original disc the menus catered strictly to the "Director's Cut" of the film. The "Theatrical Cut" was included as a "Bonus Feature" only, the "PLAY", "SCENES", "AUDIO" and "SUBTITLES" options applying to the "Director's Cut" only. To add insult to injury, the POPUP MENU for the "Director's Cut" was used for the "Theatrical Cut". So when watching the "Theatrical Cut" the "AUDIO" and "SUBTITLES" selections don't apply as the "Theatrical Cut" only includes a single audio track and has no subtitles. The "SCENES" selections don't apply either. Well, they do, but not for the "Theatrical Version" of the film. When making your selection the given chapter from the "Director's Cut" is played instead. Not exactly the best implementation to say the least.
When re-authoring the original disc I also included the "Theatrical Cut" as a "Bonus Feature", but with one big difference. When playing the "Theatrical Cut" I didn't use the POPUP MENU for the "Director's Cut". I used my secondary POPUP MENU instead which provides for returning to the TOP MENU only. That being said, I took the opportunity here to add yet another feature to my "Universal Blu-ray Authoring Template", menu support for multiple versions of a film. The default menus in this case are for the "Director's Cut", the menu background video calling this out now, the "Theatrical Cut" listed as a "Bonus Feature". When selecting "Theatrical Cut" the original disc would immediately start playback of the film. With my version of the disc you're taken to the "Theatrical Cut" version of the menus instead, the menu background video calling this out, the "Director's Cut" then listed as a "Bonus Feature", the "SCENES", "AUDIO" and "SUBTITLES" options also being specific to the selected version. From the POPUP MENU playback of the particular version starts immediately when making your selection, the POPUP MENU when enabled then reflecting that version of the film.

But wait, there's more! I also included the below dedicated Playlist for selecting which version you'd like to watch. The Playlist is displayed the moment you start playback of the disc (if the option is enabled), the included "Always-On" menu providing for selecting which version of the film you plan to watch initially. Once making a selection the playlist for the FBI Warning, Commentary Disclaimer, Shout Studios and Scream Factory video plays after which you’re taken to the TOP MENU. When reaching the TOP MENU, the appropriate menus are used based on the version of the film selected.

The above feature can also be used for "Double Feature" discs. When initially adding the feature there were some limitations in this regard. I've since gone back and rebuilt the feature from scratch. Some structural changes to the template were required. It was time well spent however as the feature now fully supports a given disc including 2 movies with completely different menus. Are we having fun yet!

But wait, there's even more! I needed to make sure the above also worked in combination with my "alternate" Playlist feature where one can navigate "DOWN" from "PLAY" on Page 1 and press "OK" accessing an alternate Playlist for the current movie or version of the film selected, the TOP MENU in this case being visually confined to the same aspect ratio as the Feature Presentation. It took a while to determine the path of least resistance, but I eventually got both features working together beautifully. Both versions of the film now offer a TOP MENU in 1.78:1 and 2.39:1, the aspect ratio being maintained when selecting a different version of the film from the "Bonus" page. Pics of the 2.39:1 version of the menus shown below. Gotta love it when a plan comes together!

I authored another Blu-ray yesterday during the process of testing my "Universal Blu-ray Authoring Template". Along the way I added a new feature to the template, the ability to jump directly to a given set of chapters from any of the "SCENES" pages. The implementation is a bit convoluted at present, but works. Next week I'll be rebuilding the feature as I've since come up with a better way to go about things. In any event, pics of my latest Blu-ray adventure shown below, the menu graphics mirroring the original version of the disc, a number of liberties taken along the way. :p

Navigating "DOWN" is used to return to the previous level of the menu. If a given set of menu items are arranged vertical navigating "UP" from the top-most item wraps around to the bottom-most item, navigating "DOWN" from the bottom-most item returns to the previous level of the menu.)

When turning the POPUP MENU off, then back on again the prior state of the POPUP MENU is restored.)
It's also worthy of note that retail Blu-ray's POPUP MENU mirrors the positioning used for the TOP MENU. As a result, the main level of the POPUP MENU is positioned outside the 2.39:1 screen area of the Feature Presentation. This doesn't present an issue if I were to watch the Blu-ray from my plasma display. It would present an issue from my home theater however, as I physically mask my 1.78:1 projector screen down to the aspect ratio of the Feature Presentation. The main level of the POPUP MENU in this case would be projected on my black velvet masking. Well, that's not an issue now as my version of the Blu-ray positions the main level of the POPUP MENU within the 2.39:1 screen area of the Feature Presentation. If you want something done right, do it yourself evidently.

Two different versions of the secondary POPUP MENU are available, the "Move GPR2030, x" command executed from MovieObject 1 on First playback determining which version is used. The fun never ends! After posting this I thought of a new feature to add to my secondary POPUP MENU. Several of the “Bonus Features” in this case include a subtitle track. Going to update the POPUP MENU so that it looks to see if a subtitle track is available for the current Playlist. If so, the POPUP MENU will include a button that provides to toggling subtitles “On” and “Off”.

Another day, another Blu-ray authored while developing my "Universal Blu-ray Authoring Template". With this latest Blu-ray I added support for a "BACK" button from any given page. Examples shown below, pics of the TOP MENU.
TOP MENU:

(Navigating "UP/DOWN" wraps around at either end. Navigating "RIGHT" performs the same action as pressing "OK". Well, only in cases where pressing "OK" would take you up a level within the menu. Navigating "LEFT" or selecting and activating the "BACK" button returns to the previous level of the menu.)

Hi everyone. I am looking for some help with adding menus to BDRebuilder. I have no idea how to insert any menus or create links for a Blu-ray. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks so much.BD Rebuilder's "Quick-Play" feature (Mode\Quick-Play Backup) will create a simple TOP MENU for Title selection when authoring one or more Titles to Blu-ray. The feature can be customized in a number of ways. The "HIDDENOPTS.TXT" file in the root of the BD Rebuilder folder calls out said options which you'd add to your "BDREBUILDER.INI" file. Mess around with it some. You can't break anything.

I authored this movie to Blu-ray some time ago, the digital offering that I own. I've since purchased Kino Lorber's Blu-ray release. Still working on my "Universal Blu-ray Authoring Template". Decided to put it through its paces here. Below is the end result, the menus mirroring the "Bringing Out the Dead" layout a few posts back. Eye candy provided below for your viewing pleasure.
TOP MENU:
https://www.lowpro.net/doom9.org/menus/suspect_zero/ubat_suspect_zero_top_play_thumb.jpg (https://www.lowpro.net/doom9.org/menus/suspect_zero/ubat_suspect_zero_top_play.jpg)
(Navigating "LEFT/RIGHT" wraps around at either end. Navigating "UP" performs the same action as pressing "OK" in cases where pressing "OK" would take you up a level within the menu. Navigating "DOWN" is used to return to the previous level of the menu. If a given set of menu items are arranged vertical navigating "UP" from the top-most item wraps around to the bottom-most item, navigating "DOWN" from the bottom-most item returns to the previous level of the menu.)
PLAY:
https://www.lowpro.net/doom9.org/menus/suspect_zero/ubat_suspect_zero_top_play_resume_thumb.jpg (https://www.lowpro.net/doom9.org/menus/suspect_zero/ubat_suspect_zero_top_play_resume.jpg)
(When selecting "PLAY" and pressing "OK" the above "Resume" prompt is given which includes the "Overview" section from the back of the retail cover art. The "Resume where you left off" option in this case is greyed out as playback can't be resumed.)
AUDIO:

(When going to the "AUDIO" page the filled circle to the left of the menu items calls out the current stream for the Feature Presentation. Selecting the current stream automatically takes you to the "SUBTITLES" page. Navigating "RIGHT" at any time moves your selection to the current stream.)
SUBTITLES:

Well, so much for "by the end of 2024". Development of my "Universal Blu-ray Authoring Template" continues. Below is the latest victim. Along the way I fixed a couple bugs in addition to making several improvements. Enjoy checking out the pics. :p
SECONDARY POPUP MENU (First Playback):

(The image above shows what the POPUP MENU looks like when accessed during First Playback prior to reaching the TOP MENU for the first time. Pressing "OK" skips directly to the TOP MENU. Navigating "DOWN" turns the POPUP MENU off.)
TOP MENU:

(When selecting "PLAY" and pressing "OK" the above "Resume" prompt is given which includes the "Overview" section from the back portion of the cover art. The "Resume where you left off" option is greyed out in the above example as playback can't be resumed.)
SCENES (Chapters 1-3):

(When going to the "AUDIO" page the filled circle to the right of the menu items calls out the current audio stream for the Feature Presentation. Selecting the current stream takes you to the "SUBTITLES" page. If there's no "SUBTITLES" option you're instead taken to the "PLAY" option. Lowpro - the gift that just keeps on giving……. CheersThanks for the kind words. And yeah, that's the plan. Eventually. :p The giving part. I'll get there eventually. Made significant progress this evening actually. My "Universal Blu-ray Authoring Template" now supports up to 6 Main Menu items instead of 5. And here's the cherry on top. Any one of the menu items can be configured to restart playback of the disc, i.e. "First Playback". The feature is intended for use with "Double Feature" discs where on "First Playback" you're presented with a menu for selecting which movie you'd like to watch.
See my previous post here (https://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?p=2009751#post2009751), an example where two versions of the same movie are available. On "First Playback" you're presented with a menu for deciding which version of the movie you'd like to watch. Once reaching the TOP MENU a bonus feature is available for going to the TOP MENU for the other version of the film and vice versa. With this latest update to the template it's now possible to restart playback of the disc if you prefer. This method makes better sense for an actual "Double Feature" Blu-ray, hence the addition.

I purchased the Kino Lorber release of this movie last week. When creating my own Blu-ray for it I decided to combine the "AUDIO" and "SUBTITLES" options which is something my "Universal Blu-ray Authoring Template" didn't support prior. I've been wanting to add this to the mix for a while now. Figured why not. No better time than the present. In any event, eye candy of the menus shown below. Enjoy checking out the pics. Great looking Blu-ray transfer by the way. Night and day compared to the Warner Home Video release I purchased some 10 years ago now. :p
TOP MENU:
https://www.lowpro.net/doom9.org/menus/hatari!/ubat_hatari!_top_thumb.jpg (https://www.lowpro.net/doom9.org/menus/hatari!/ubat_hatari!_top.jpg)
(Navigating "LEFT/RIGHT" wraps around at either end. Selecting and activating the "BACK" button when available takes you to the previous level of the menu.)
PLAY:
https://www.lowpro.net/doom9.org/menus/hatari!/ubat_hatari!_top_play_thumb.jpg (https://www.lowpro.net/doom9.org/menus/hatari!/ubat_hatari!_top_play.jpg)
(The contents of a given page are displayed on the right side of the screen, the underscore below the given menu item to the left appearing faded when not on the main level of the menu. By default the full "Overview" section from the back portion of the retail cover art is shown. When selecting and activating the "PLAY" option the header and lower portion of the "Overview" is replaced, options given instead to play the movie. In the above example the "Resume where you left off" option is greyed out as playback can't be resumed.)
SCENES (Chapters 1-5):
https://www.lowpro.net/doom9.org/menus/hatari!/ubat_hatari!_top_scenes_p1_thumb.jpg (https://www.lowpro.net/doom9.org/menus/hatari!/ubat_hatari!_top_scenes_p1.jpg)
(When activating the "SCENES" option the current chapter played is selected by default. Navigating "UP/DOWN" wraps around at either end. Navigating "RIGHT" moves your selection to the current chapter. Navigating "LEFT" takes you to the previous level of the menu.)
SCENES (Chapters 6-10):
https://www.lowpro.net/doom9.org/menus/hatari!/ubat_hatari!_top_scenes_p2_thumb.jpg (https://www.lowpro.net/doom9.org/menus/hatari!/ubat_hatari!_top_scenes_p2.jpg)
(When activating the "SCENES" option the current chapter played is selected by default. Navigating "UP/DOWN" wraps around at either end. Navigating "RIGHT" moves your selection to the current chapter. Navigating "LEFT" takes you to the previous level of the menu.)
SETUP:
https://www.lowpro.net/doom9.org/menus/hatari!/ubat_hatari!_top_setup_thumb.jpg (https://www.lowpro.net/doom9.org/menus/hatari!/ubat_hatari!_top_setup.jpg)
(When going to the "SETUP" page the filled circle to the right of each set of menu items calls out the current stream for the Feature Presentation. Navigating "RIGHT" at any time takes you to the current audio stream. Selecting the current audio stream takes you to the current subtitles stream. Selecting the current subtitles stream takes you to the "PLAY" option.)
BONUS:
https://www.lowpro.net/doom9.org/menus/hatari!/ubat_hatari!_top_bonus_thumb.jpg (https://www.lowpro.net/doom9.org/menus/hatari!/ubat_hatari!_top_bonus.jpg)
(When going to the "BONUS" page the last menu item played is selected by default. Navigating "RIGHT" moves your selection back to said item as if you had just gone to the page. With prior Kino Lorber content my "BONUS" section would include dedicated pages for accessing the "Audio Commentaries" and "Bonus Trailers", the "Audio Commentaries" also being made available on the "AUDIO" page. In this case I decided to go with a single "BONUS" page containing all the trailers, the "Audio Commentary" still being made available on the "AUDIO" page. Well, the "Audio" section of the "SETUP" page.)
BONUS\Resume:
https://www.lowpro.net/doom9.org/menus/hatari!/ubat_hatari!_top_resume_thumb.jpg (https://www.lowpro.net/doom9.org/menus/hatari!/ubat_hatari!_top_resume.jpg)
(The above "Resume" prompt is always given if playback of the selected "Bonus Feature" can be resumed, otherwise playback starts from the beginning, no prompt given.)

Here's my latest victim, the Via Vision Entertainment release of "Beverly Hills Ninja". The original disc didn't allow for resuming playback of anything and didn't a "Scenes" menu option or POPUP MENU. Talk about barebones! Just finished rolling my own. Built everything from scratch of course minus the M2TS files for the Feature Presentation, Theatrical Trailer and First Playback items. I did like the original menu layout and graphics so I mirrored and built upon that. Quite pleased with the end result. Eye candy provided below as always. Enjoy checking out the pics. :p
TOP MENU:
https://www.lowpro.net/doom9.org/menus/beverly_hills_ninja/ubat_beverly_hills_ninja_top_thumb.jpg (https://www.lowpro.net/doom9.org/menus/beverly_hills_ninja/ubat_beverly_hills_ninja_top.jpg)
(Navigating "LEFT/RIGHT" wraps around at either end. Navigating "UP" or pressing "OK" takes you up a level within the interface. Navigating "DOWN" from the bottommost item takes you back a level.)
PLAY FILM:
https://www.lowpro.net/doom9.org/menus/beverly_hills_ninja/ubat_beverly_hills_ninja_top_play_thumb.jpg (https://www.lowpro.net/doom9.org/menus/beverly_hills_ninja/ubat_beverly_hills_ninja_top_play.jpg)
(Selecting and activating the "PLAY FILM" option prior would immediately start playback of the "Feature Presentation" from the beginning, no ability to resume playback if available. With my version of the disc the above "Resume" prompt is always shown which includes a description of the film. In the above example the "Resume where you left off" option is greyed out as playback can't be resumed.)
BONUS:

(When going to the "BONUS" page the last menu item played is selected by default. Navigating "RIGHT" moves your selection back to said item as if you had just gone to the page. Navigating "UP" from the topmost item would normally wrap around. With this disc I have an option set that requires 3 or more items before navigation wraps around.)

I had way too much fun authoring "Beverly Hills Ninja" to Blu-ray yesterday. Decided to go for broke this evening. In the process now of adding a "Scenes" menu option. See below.
SCENES (Chapters 1-5):
https://www.lowpro.net/doom9.org/menus/beverly_hills_ninja/ubat_beverly_hills_ninja_top_scenes_01_thumb.jpg (https://www.lowpro.net/doom9.org/menus/beverly_hills_ninja/ubat_beverly_hills_ninja_top_scenes_01.jpg)
(When activating the "SCENES" option the current chapter played is selected by default. Navigating "LEFT/RIGHT" wraps around at either end. Navigating "UP" moves your selection to the current chapter. Navigating "DOWN" takes you to the previous level of the menu.)
SCENES (Chapters 6-10):
https://www.lowpro.net/doom9.org/menus/beverly_hills_ninja/ubat_beverly_hills_ninja_top_scenes_02_thumb.jpg (https://www.lowpro.net/doom9.org/menus/beverly_hills_ninja/ubat_beverly_hills_ninja_top_scenes_02.jpg)
(When selecting a given item the number below the chapter thumbnail displays its "Selected" state. The chapter thumbnails themselves have a selected state as well. The "Normal" state is a de-saturated version of the given image, the colors appearing muted. The "Selected" state is a full color version.)
The above is a mock-up I created in Photoshop. Still deciding on which thumbnails to use. I have a couple to choose from for each chapter. And for those wondering, the swords framing each pic were lifted from the back portion of the DVD cover (https://www.lowpro.net/phpdvdprofiler/bd/images4/IF81CBBF5B09CA54Ab.jpg) art. Pretty clever if I do say so myself. :p
__________________________________
Well I finally had time today to put the above into practice. Properly integrated the above mock-up within my Photoshop template, then exporting the assets for import to the Blu-ray via BDedit. Took only 15 minutes from there to import the new objects to the menus, then making the other required edits. And a bit redundant, but why not. End result for the POPUP MENU shown below, the backdrop transparency increased significantly over what's used for the TOP MENU. (Pics in my prior post have been updated accordingly.)
SCENES (Chapters 1-5):
https://www.lowpro.net/doom9.org/menus/beverly_hills_ninja/ubat_beverly_hills_ninja_pop_scenes_01_thumb.jpg (https://www.lowpro.net/doom9.org/menus/beverly_hills_ninja/ubat_beverly_hills_ninja_pop_scenes_01.jpg)
(When activating the "SCENES" option the current chapter played is selected by default. Navigating "LEFT/RIGHT" wraps around at either end. Navigating "UP" moves your selection to the current chapter. Navigating "DOWN" takes you to the previous level of the menu.)
SCENES (Chapters 6-10):
https://www.lowpro.net/doom9.org/menus/beverly_hills_ninja/ubat_beverly_hills_ninja_pop_scenes_02_thumb.jpg (https://www.lowpro.net/doom9.org/menus/beverly_hills_ninja/ubat_beverly_hills_ninja_pop_scenes_02.jpg)
(When selecting a given item the number below the chapter thumbnail displays its "Selected" state. The chapter thumbnails themselves have a selected state as well. The "Normal" state is a de-saturated version of the given image, the colors appearing muted. The "Selected" state is a full color version.)
Tested the Blu-ray just now with PowerDVD. No issues. Next I'll be burning to BD-RE to test with a hardware based player, the M2TS file for the "Feature Presentation" not being included. I never include the larger M2TS files when burning to BD-RE for testing purposes. When playing the "Feature Presentation" in this scenario a hardware based Blu-ray player will end up playing the last frame of the video it was playing prior in place of the missing M2TS file, in this case the video from the TOP MENU. The POPUP MENU can still be accessed and tested at that point. If everything checks out it's time to put another BD-R to good use. In this case a BD-25, the Blu-ray weighing in at 20.4 GB (21,936,81,154 bytes).

A few weeks ago I purchased the movie, "Panic Room (2002)" on Blu-ray. The menu layout and underlying functionality include a couple items on my ToDoList, things I have yet to incorporate into my "Universal Blu-ray Authoring Template". Figured there's no better time than the present. To make the work more interesting I decided to recreate the "Panic Room" Blu-ray from scratch minus the M2TS files for the various videos of course. Along the way I'll be updating my template accordingly where needed.
That being said, I just completed a mock-up of the Blu-ray menus and exported the assets for use with BDedit. Well, for the TOP MENU. The menus in this case mirror the original disc very closely. The text spacing in particular is greatly improved over the original disc which used a font strip to populate all the text. Pretty sure that's why the letter spacing on the original disc is so odd looking. It's all over the place. In any event, eye candy of the TOP MENU provided below, a description accompanying each pic outlining the related behavior of the original disc.
TOP MENU:
https://www.lowpro.net/doom9.org/menus/panic_room/ubat_panic_room_top_thumb.jpg (https://www.lowpro.net/doom9.org/menus/panic_room/ubat_panic_room_top.jpg)
(At the main level of the menu the "EXTRAS" menu items are always shown to the right, each menu item showing its "Normal" state, i.e. not selected. Navigating to the "RIGHT" from the "EXTRAS" option does not wrap around to "PLAY" in this case. Instead you're taken to the "EXTRAS" page just as if you had selected and activated the "EXTRAS" option. With my version navigation will wrap around from "EXTRAS" to "PLAY" and vice versa, the right portion of the screen used to display an "Overview" of the film instead rather than the contents of the "EXTRAS" page.)
PLAY\RESUME:
https://www.lowpro.net/doom9.org/menus/panic_room/ubat_panic_room_top_play_thumb.jpg (https://www.lowpro.net/doom9.org/menus/panic_room/ubat_panic_room_top_play.jpg)
(The "PLAY" option never displays a "Resume" prompt if applicable. Playback either resumes if possible or starts from the beginning. The only way to invoke the "Resume" prompt is to stop playback of the disc, then start playback again. When doing so the above "Resume Playback?" prompt is displayed after the disc loads if applicable, the options "Yes" (...resume where you left off.) and "No" (...start from beginning.) given. With my version the "Resume Playback?" will be given if applicable without having to stop and restart playback of the disc. Navigating "DOWN" will provide for backing out if you change your mind.)
SETUP\AUDIO:
https://www.lowpro.net/doom9.org/menus/panic_room/ubat_panic_room_top_setup_audio_thumb.jpg (https://www.lowpro.net/doom9.org/menus/panic_room/ubat_panic_room_top_setup_audio.jpg)
(The current audio stream for the film is called out by the small right arrow to the left of the given menu item. Navigating "UP" from the topmost item wraps around to the last available audio selection. Navigating "RIGHT" at any time takes you to the "Subtitles" button. Navigating "LEFT" takes you back a level to the "SETUP" option. Selecting and activating any of the audio selections sets the audio stream for the film, then takes you to the "SETUP\SUBTITLES" page. Navigating "DOWN" from the "Subtitles" button does not wrap around. Selecting and activating the "Subtitles" button takes you to the "SETUP\SUBTITLES" page.)
SETUP\SUBTITLES (Page 1):

(The current subtitle stream for the film is called out by the small right arrow to the left of the given menu item. Navigating "UP" from the topmost item wraps around to the last available subtitles selection on Page 2. Navigating "RIGHT" at any time takes you to the "Audio" button. Navigating "LEFT" takes you back a level to the "SETUP" option. Selecting and activating any of the subtitles selections sets the subtitle stream for the film, then takes you back a level to the "PLAY" option. Navigating "DOWN" from the "Audio" button does not wrap around. Selecting and activating the "Audio" button of course takes you to the "SETUP\AUDIO" page. | Additional pic: Page 2 (https://www.lowpro.net/doom9.org/menus/panic_room/ubat_panic_room_top_setup_subtitles_02.jpg))

With the original disc the description provided on Page 1 is a wall of text. I decided to break things up a bit. The details are much easier to digest as a result I think. I also went with a smaller font size for the menu items, menu items 2-8 fitting comfortably on Page 2. The original disc spreads the menu items across 3 pages. Page 2 contains menu items 2-6. Page 3 contains menu items 7-8. Navigating "DOWN" from the last menu item on Page 3 does wrap back around to Page 1. | Additional pic: Page 2 (https://www.lowpro.net/doom9.org/menus/panic_room/ubat_panic_room_top_bonus_02b_05b.jpg))

(The original disc only supports resuming playback of a bonus feature when you stop playback of the disc, then start playback again. When doing this a "Resume Playback?" prompt is displayed after the disc loads, the options "Yes" and "No" given. I couldn't let that limitation stand of course. With my version the same "Resume Playback?" prompt will be given if applicable without having to stop and restart playback of the disc. Navigating "DOWN" will provide for backing out if you change your mind.)

(This is an alternate implementation of the "Resume" prompt for the bonus features. In this example I've configured Pages 8-13 to use the "Resume" prompt objects from Page 1 instead. Note the "BACK" arrow is not present as a result, the "PLAY" option showing as activated rather than the "EXTRAS" button. Leaning towards this configuration when eventually burning to BD-R.)

I'm making excellent progress on my "Universal Blu-ray Authoring Template" per the needed additions required to replicate the "Panic Room" Blu-ray. I initially built the Blu-ray using the current version of my template. From there I began updating the template where needed while still maintaining the current functionality. The most significant additions involve the "Audio", "Subtitles" and "Bonus" pages.
My "Audio" and "Subtitles" pages now mirror the "Panic Room" Blu-ray with one exception. My template only supports 13 subtitle menu items, all of which must be displayed on-screen at the same time. The "Panic Room" Blu-ray has 16 subtitle menu items and spreads them across 2 pages. Working on addressing that today. And actually, there's another item I need to address. The "Subtitles Off" menu item is listed first with the "Panic Room" Blu-ray. My template currently requires "Subtitles Off" be the last item. So yeah, still some work to do.
Another welcome addition to my template involves the "Bonus" pages. Page 6 is the initial page you're taken to when activating the "Bonus" option from the main level of the menu. The menu items on Page 6 can then be configured to play a bonus feature (...a title or chapter of a title) or act as a category taking you to a sub-menu page instead. Page 7 is reserved for when an audio commentary is included as a bonus feature. Pages 8 through 13 are for general use.
That being said, the "Panic Room" Blu-ray nests bonus pages several levels deep. My template only supported nesting pages one level deep and only from Page 6. As a quick test for proof of concept I was able to replicate the page structure of the "Panic Room" Blu-ray for a couple of the bonus features, Page 9 nesting Pages 10 and Page 11. I'm now going back and building out the scheme so that any given page can nest another page. Well, for Pages 8-13, all of which fall under Page 6. The structure will be defined on First Playback when the disc initially loads, a variable added for each page, the assigned value calling out the parent page each child page is nested under. If no value is assigned Page 6 is used by default.

Additional note...
In some cases a given bonus feature will offer more than one "Audio" or "Subtitle" selection. As such, I plan to enhance my secondary POPUP MENU even further to accommodate for this. If a single subtitle selection is offered the POPUP MENU will include a simple toggle for turning subtitles "On" or "Off". If more than one subtitle selection is offered selecting and activating the "Subtitles" button repeatedly will cycle through the available tracks. "Audio" selection will be handled the same way if applicable.

I just completed a significant update to the "Audio Commentary" support for my "Universal Blu-ray Authoring Template". My intention initially was to update the template, so that the "Commentary" page from the "Panic Room" Blu-ray could be mirrored in both form and function. In the end I put my own spin on things while maintaining all the functionality. Below is a pic of the "Commentaries" page which mirrors the "Panic Room" Blu-ray.
https://www.lowpro.net/doom9.org/menus/panic_room/ubat_panic_room_top_bonus_01_thumb.jpg (https://www.lowpro.net/doom9.org/menus/panic_room/ubat_panic_room_top_bonus_01.jpg)
(Click on the preview image above to view the full size image.)
The "On" and "Off" buttons and indicators for each menu item felt a bit overkill to me. It's basically an "Audio" page just for the commentary tracks which doesn't interfere with the main "Audio" page, the current non-commentary stream backed up, then restored when commentary is turned off. As such, I just kept things simple. End result shown below which mirrors the "Audio" page. No need to reinvent the wheel. Even included the "Run Time" down at the bottom.
https://www.lowpro.net/doom9.org/menus/panic_room/ubat_panic_room_top_bonus_01_alt_thumb.jpg (https://www.lowpro.net/doom9.org/menus/panic_room/ubat_panic_room_top_bonus_01_alt.jpg)
(Click on the preview image above to view the full size image.)
The blue square is used to navigate the page, the arrow to the left calling out the current stream. The "Off" options with the original Blu-ray restore the previous non-commentary stream that was selected, then taking you back to the "EXTRAS" button. Turning a given commentary track "On" sets the stream, then taking you to the "PLAY" button. My version of the page can replicate that behavior, but can do a lot more. The GPR definitions I worked up for the page are shown below, each variable assigned the desired value under MovieObjects 1 & 2 run on First Playback.
https://www.lowpro.net/doom9.org/menus/panic_room/ubat_panic_room_top_bonus_01_alt_gpr_definitions.jpg
As you can see, I bring much more to the party. The behavior here can be set at every potential stage (GPR3020-GPR3024) when selecting, then activating a given menu item, including when going to access the POPUP MENU. Playback can also be initiated directly from the "Commentaries" page if you prefer versus being taken to the "PLAY" button. Activating "Commentary Off" by default takes you back to the "Commentaries" option on the "EXTRAS" page. The menu item can also be configured to initiate playback instead if you like. And why not, here's one more pic.
https://www.lowpro.net/doom9.org/menus/panic_room/ubat_panic_room_top_bonus_01_alt_resume_thumb.jpg (https://www.lowpro.net/doom9.org/menus/panic_room/ubat_panic_room_top_bonus_01_alt_resume.jpg)
(Click on the preview image above to view the full size image.)
The above full screen "Resume" prompt is available as well, the "EXTRAS" menu items still appearing in the background. In the above example I've configured the "Commentaries" page to use the "Resume" prompt objects from Page 1, minus the large panel to the right which is specific to the page and selected menu item. Makes it appears as though you've gone to the "PLAY" button to initiate playback. The same "Resume" prompt is available from the "PLAY" button as well. Navigating "DOWN" provides for backing out if you change your mind.

I just finished adding an alternate playlist to the "Panic Room" Blu-ray for the TOP MENU, the menu graphics confined in this case to the 2.35:1 aspect ratio of the film. By default the 1.78:1 menus are used. Selecting "PLAY", then navigating "DOWN" and pressing "OK" provides for toggling between the two. For the POPUP MENU I elected to go with the 2.35:1 menus since I physically mask down my 1.78:1 projector screen for scope content. In any event, just thought I'd share. Eye candy provided below as always, pics of the 2.35:1 menus in use by the POPUP MENU. And no descriptions accompanying the pics this time. For additional details see my last few posts. ;)

My "Universal Blu-ray Authoring Template (UBAT)" is not ready for public consumption yet, but it's getting there. I'm still in the process of updating it so that the menu layout and underlying functionality of the "Panic Room (2002)" Blu-ray release can be replicated with the template while still retaining the prior functionality.
Well, this is actually the case with respects to the BDMV structure of the template. The changes there extend to the Photoshop portion of the template and associated actions however, the Photoshop actions automating the process of exporting the objects (PNGs) for import to BDedit and the menus. That's the portion I'm still building out to account for some of the latest additions.
That being said, I thought I'd provide a small look behind the scenes if you will. Click here (https://www.lowpro.net/doom9.org/menus/panic_room/working/ubat_panic_room.zip) to download a copy of the current GPR Definitions (variables) in excel format for the "Panic Room (2002)" Blu-ray. The excel sheet documents the values I'm moving to GPRs under MovieObject 0 and MovieObject 1 on First playback to make the Blu-ray work as intended. Some GPRs have preset values that apply. In those cases the current values in use are highlighted in red.
Below is a quick example of the GPR section under MovieObject 1 responsible for determining what Playlist (MPLS) is played for the Title 0 (TOP MENU), Title 1 (Feature Presentation) and Titles 3-32 (Bonus Features). This is the first section I usually attend to for a given Blu-ray as it's the foundation the rest of the Blu-ray sits on.
Note I didn't mention Title 2. Title 2 isn't assigned a Playlist (MPLS). It's reserved, a special use case. It serves as an all-in-one Playlist for the TOP MENU and Bonus Features when the "Resume" functionality of the disc via GPR3000 is set to always be able to resume playback of the "Feature Presentation" from the TOP MENU, even after having played a Bonus Feature.
https://www.lowpro.net/doom9.org/menus/panic_room/working/ubat_panic_room_gpr_titles_excel.jpg
https://www.lowpro.net/doom9.org/menus/panic_room/working/ubat_panic_room_gpr_titles_bdedit.jpg
Once assigning a Playlist (MPLS) to each Title the menu items for each "BONUS" page are then assigned a Title to play. (Page 6 is the main "BONUS" page accessible from Page 1. From Pages 7-13 can then be accessed from Page 6. Page 7 is the dedicated page for a "Bonus\Commentaries" option. Pages 8-13 are for general use.) A given menu item can also be treated as a category if you prefer, activating the menu item in this case taking you to a separate page rather than playing a Title, the separate page containing the playable bonus feature menu items for the particular category.
With the latest additions to my template the nesting of pages from Page 6 can extend as deep as you like from any given page, each page now including a GPR (variable) which calls out the "Parent" page it belongs to for navigation purposes. Prior the template only supported the nesting of pages one level deep from Page 6, i.e. jump to Page 8 from Page 6 for example, navigating back a level always returning to Page 6.
In the case of the "Panic Room (2002)" Blu-ray the "Pre-Production\Previsualization" bonus category on Page 6 takes you to Page 9 for example. Page 9 includes 5 menu items (BOGs 1-5). Menu items 1-3 (BOGs 1-3) each play a Title. Menu item 4 (BOG 4) takes you to Page 10 where the playable "Habitrail Film" bonus feature menu item resides. Menu item 5 (BOG 5) takes you to Page 11 where the playable "Multi-Angle Featurette" menu items reside. Navigating back a level from Page 10 or Page 11 returns to Page 9. Navigating back a level from Page 9 returns to Page 6. Navigating back a level from Page 6 returns to Page 1.
So let's take a look at the menu items and page structure just described starting with Page 6 shall we. Pics of the GPR definitions and assigned values shown below.
https://www.lowpro.net/doom9.org/menus/panic_room/ubat_panic_room_pop_bonus_thumb.jpg (https://www.lowpro.net/doom9.org/menus/panic_room/ubat_panic_room_pop_bonus.jpg)
https://www.lowpro.net/doom9.org/menus/panic_room/working/ubat_panic_room_gpr_bonus_excel.jpg
https://www.lowpro.net/doom9.org/menus/panic_room/working/ubat_panic_room_gpr_bonus_bdedit.jpg
Each "BONUS" page supports up to 16 menu items (BOGs 1-16) and include a GPR which calls out the "Parent" page (GPR600 for Page 6) the given page belongs to followed by 2 sets of GPRs (variables) which are referenced when activating a menu item. The first set of GPRs (GPR601-GPR616 for Page 6) determine what Title is played if any when activating a given menu item. If a value of "0" is assigned the second set of GPRs (GPR621-GPR636 for Page 6) are referenced, the associated GPR for the menu item just activated calling out the page navigation that should take place instead, i.e. the menu item serving as a category rather than playing a Title.
From here let's activate the 3rd menu item (BOG 3) shown above on Page 6, "Pre-Production\Previsualization", the associated GPRs being GPR603 and GPR623. GPR603's value is set to "0" in this case, i.e. "Move GPR603, 0". This results in a page navigation taking place based on the value assigned (Move GPR623, 9) to GPR623, i.e. navigate to Page 9. So now let's take a look at the menu items and page structure for Page 9. Pics of the GPR definitions and assigned values shown below.
https://www.lowpro.net/doom9.org/menus/panic_room/ubat_panic_room_pop_bonus_02b_01_thumb.jpg (https://www.lowpro.net/doom9.org/menus/panic_room/ubat_panic_room_pop_bonus_02b_01.jpg)

https://www.lowpro.net/doom9.org/menus/panic_room/working/ubat_panic_room_gpr_bonus_p9_bdedit.jpg
As previously described, menu items 1-3 (BOG 1-3) on Page 9 each play a Title based on the values assigned to GPR901 (Move GPR901, 5), GPR902 (Move GPR902, 6) and GPR903 (Move GPR903, 7), i.e. Titles 5-7. Menu item 4 (BOG 4) takes you to Page 10 based on the values assigned to GPR904 (Move GPR904, 0) and GPR924 (Move GPR924, 10) where the playable "Habitrail Film" bonus feature menu item (BOG 1) resides.
https://www.lowpro.net/doom9.org/menus/panic_room/ubat_panic_room_pop_bonus_02b_04_thumb.jpg (https://www.lowpro.net/doom9.org/menus/panic_room/ubat_panic_room_pop_bonus_02b_04.jpg)

https://www.lowpro.net/doom9.org/menus/panic_room/working/ubat_panic_room_gpr_bonus_p10_bdedit.jpg
Menu item 5 (BOG 5) on Page 9 takes you to Page 11 where the playable "Multi-Angle Featurette" menu items (BOGs 1-8) reside, i.e. Titles 9-16.
https://www.lowpro.net/doom9.org/menus/panic_room/ubat_panic_room_pop_bonus_02b_05a_thumb.jpg (https://www.lowpro.net/doom9.org/menus/panic_room/ubat_panic_room_pop_bonus_02b_05a.jpg)
https://www.lowpro.net/doom9.org/menus/panic_room/ubat_panic_room_pop_bonus_02b_05b_thumb.jpg (https://www.lowpro.net/doom9.org/menus/panic_room/ubat_panic_room_pop_bonus_02b_05b.jpg)
https://www.lowpro.net/doom9.org/menus/panic_room/working/ubat_panic_room_gpr_bonus_p11_excel.jpg
https://www.lowpro.net/doom9.org/menus/panic_room/working/ubat_panic_room_gpr_bonus_p11_bdedit.jpg
Navigating back a level from Page 10 (Move GPR1000, 9) or Page 11 (Move GPR1100, 9) returns to Page 9. Navigating back a level from Page 9 (Move GPR900, 6) returns to Page 6. Navigating back a level from Page 6 (Move GRP600, 1) returns to Page 1. So as you can see, the process of establishing the page structure and action to be taken when activating a given bonus feature menu item is very straightforward from the assigning of Playlists (MPLS) to Titles, to the assigning of Titles or page navigation to each bonus feature menu item including the trip back home for each page, i.e. the "Parent" page a given "BONUS" page belongs to.
__________________________________
And something I didn't touch on per the above. With the "Panic Room (2002)" Blu-ray the "Run Time" is displayed at the bottom of the screen when the menu item selected is a playable bonus feature. With the original disc when going to a bonus page the first menu item on the page is always selected by default. As such, the "Run Time" for the first menu item can be shown by default as well. With my version the last menu item played on a given page is selected by default instead. As such, I needed the associated "Run Time" to be displayed by default as well.
That being said, when playing a bonus feature to its conclusion from the original disc you're taken back to the bonus page in question afterwards, the next menu item selected by default, the correct "Run Time" immediately shown as well. So for BD-J the BOGs enabled by default when going to a given page can be dynamically set based on this observation. Well, if they're even considered BOGs in the BD-J world.
My version uses HDMV however, i.e. not Java. With HDMV the default state of all BOGs (enabled/disabled) on a given page can't be changed dynamically prior to going to the page. They are fixed to what they were when muxing the IG out to the M2TS file. As such, this left me with 3 options per going to a given bonus page, the last menu item played from the page being selected by default, the correct "Run Time" immediately shown as well.
My first option was to include the "Run Time" as part of the object (PNG) that's shown when each bonus feature menu item is selected. My template makes exclusive use of button overlap groups to display the selected menu item, the object (PNG) for each menu item including all menu items seen on-screen, the menu item in question showing as selected within the image, only one object within the button overlap group being enabled at a given time.
So including the "Run Time" within the object for each menu item was the easier option. Unfortunately the dimensions of each object end up being very large as a result since the "Run Time" is displayed at the bottom of the screen. With a hardware based Blu-ray player the menu (IG) has to be pre-loaded into memory ahead of time. The memory allocation used for this purpose is ridiculously small. During testing I confirmed this first method wasn't a viable option as the full IG couldn't be pre-loaded into memory as a result, several BOGs displaying menu items for Pages 12 and 13 failing to be shown on-screen.
The second option was to include a separate button overlap group containing the "Run Time" object for each menu item on the given page. When going to the page the last bonus feature played is always shown immediately, even if it resides within a button overlap group as I'm jumping directly to that button from outside the page. The "Run Time" object has to be enabled by default or enabled once arriving on the page however. If enabled once arriving on the page there's a brief moment where the "Run Time" object is not shown. This produces an undesired result, hence the third option.
The third option is to again, include a separate button overlap group containing the "Run Time" object for each menu item on the given page. This time the "Run Time" object for the first menu item on the page will be enabled by default, additional copies of the page used when the menu item selected by default isn't the first menu item. This provides for the appropriate "Run Time" object being enabled by default per landing page, i.e. one page per menu item. Once on a given page the appropriate "Run Time" object is enabled at the same time the selected menu item changes.
Implementing this required the addition of 3 GPRs (variables) per page. (See the above images, the last three GPRs referenced per page.) Updates to the navigation commands executed at the IG level just prior to being taken to a given bonus page were required as well of course. Took very little time to implement in the end actually and very simple when put into practice. In any event, just a little taste. Now back to work getting the Photoshop side of things updated so I can eventually make this thing available for those interested.

22nd April 2025, 11:13
I completed my final build of the "Panic Room (2002)" Blu-ray yesterday. My "Universal Blu-ray Authoring Template" with respects to BDMV structure is fully updated as a result allowing for replicating the layout and underlying functionality of the "Panic Room (2002)" Blu-ray while at the same time retaining the prior functionality used for the many Blu-ray examples provided in this thread going back several pages. (A link to the current GPR definitions used by the template can be found in my prior post.) Now I'm working on updating the Photoshop side of things. Once completed I'll be making my work here available for public consumption.
That being said, I did something quite clever prior to burning the final build to BD-R for use with my Sony BDP-CX7000ES 400-disc Blu-ray players, Runco LS-5 1080p Front Projector and 720p Pioneer Plasma display which accepts 1080p 23.976 signals. All the bonus features for this title are in 480i 29.970. Everything else is in 1080p 23.976. Prior to this time I've been enjoying the given build via my HTPC and PowerDVD 18. As a result, the transition from the TOP MENU (1080p 23.976) or Feature Presentation (1080p 23.976) to a given Bonus Feature (480i 29.970) and back again has been seamless, no break in the video, no loss of the video signal as a sync takes place due to the change in video resolution and frame rate.
So prior to burning to BD-R I got to thinking. Yes, the transition from the TOP MENU (1080p 23.976) to Feature Presentation (1080p 23.976) and back again will be seamless. How often is that transition going to take place though in a given sitting? Once watching the film there are a plethora of bonus features available, all of which are in 480i 29.970. When using an actual Blu-ray player, each and every time playback of a Bonus Feature is initiated from the TOP MENU or Feature Presentation my home theater receiver, plasma display and/or projector have to reacquire the video signal as the sync takes place due to the change in video resolution and frame rate. That transition only takes a couple seconds, but still feels tedious, especially if one plans to work their way through a good bit of the bonus content in one sitting.
This brings us to one of the hidden features of my "Universal Blu-ray Authoring Template (UBAT)". The template offers a couple hidden features accessible from the "PLAY" option of the TOP MENU, one of which is the ability to change to an alternate Playlist (MPLS) for the TOP MENU. The Blu-ray here already included an alternate Playlist (MPLS) for the TOP MENU, the static background image pictured in my last several posts with no audio in 1080p 23.976. By default the original full motion video from the original disc (including the gradient to the right) plays along with the included audio. Accessing the alternate Playlist (MPLS) is done by navigating "DOWN" once from "PLAY" then pressing "OK".
Now we get to have our cake and eat it too. To provide a seamless transition from the TOP MENU (1080p 23.976) to a given Bonus Feature (480i 29.970) and back again I decided to make better use of the alternate Playlist (MPLS) which I've since re-authored to 1080i 29.970. It's a video of a static image after all. I then re-encoded all the Bonus Features from 480i 29.970 to 1080i 29.970 and there you go. The default Playlist (MPLS) for the TOP MENU provides for a clean transition to the Feature Presentation and back again as both are in 1080p 23.976. I return to the TOP MENU after watching the Feature Presentation. Let's check out the Bonus Features. I navigate "DOWN" once from "PLAY" and press "OK" to access the alternate Playlist (MPLS) for the TOP MENU, a clean transition then being provided when playing a given Bonus Feature, both the TOP MENU and Bonus Features at that point being in 1080i 29.970.
And yes, there's icing on the cake as well, the added benefit here being the secondary POPUP MENU accessible from a given Bonus Feature which can now be properly presented in HD since the Bonus Features are now in 1080i 29.970, the correct aspect ratio always being maintained as well, irrespective of the related settings of one's Blu-ray player. Examples provided below.
BONUS FEATURE (Return to Main Menu):
When accessed after initiating playback of "Bonus Feature" from TOP MENU. Pressing "OK" skips directly to TOP MENU. Selecting and activating the "Close" symbol or navigating "DOWN" turns the POPUP MENU off.

The original disc uses BD-J which is why the secondary POPUP MENU can be authored and presented in HD despite the fact the given Bonus Feature is in SD, BD-J offering an additional graphics layer unlike HDMV which was carried over from the DVD era. With HDMV the given IG (Interactive Graphics Menu) will only be properly displayed in all scenarios if it's authored in the same resolution as the video it will be accessed from.
(BDedit displays the resolution and frame rate for a given IG in the upper left corner, but it's always greyed out. There's no way at present to select something other than 1080p 23.976 short of working from a IG authored elsewhere that uses a different resolution.)
Well, there's a few caveats to this. When setting the "Screen Format" option of my Sony Blu-ray player to "Original" for example, this results in 480i 29.970 (720x480) content being stretched to fill the width of the 1.78:1 (1920x1080) screen area. In this case the secondary POPUP MENU is displayed as expected when authored in HD. If the "Screen Format" option of my Blu-ray player is set to "Fixed Aspect Ratio" instead the secondary POPUP MENU appears squat horizontally with 480i 29.970 content.

My final build of the "Panic Room (2002)" Blu-ray includes a fun addition I have yet to talk about. Included on the original disc is a "DVE Digital Video Essentials" type video that consists of test patterns, demo material and such. The video contains 7 chapters and is 4 minutes 47 seconds in length. It's file "00102.m2ts", playlist "00102.mpls".
I was thinking the video might be an Easter Egg unlike the "Extras\Easter Egg" category which I presume are the Easter Egg videos from the DVD releases. Unfortunately the Blu-ray disc uses BD-J so there's no easy way for me to determine if the video in question is an Easter Egg and if so, how to access it via the menus.
Screenshots from each chapter are shown below, the last chapter having the longest running time, a slow pan from left to right of a panoramic image. That screenshot is a combination of 4 screenshots stitched together, the final image dimensions being 6607x1080.

Okay, so I’ve since learned what’s up with this video. Sony has been doing this for a long time evidently and it is an Easter Egg. It’s accessible from anywhere while on the TOP MENU. Dial 7-6-6-9 (S-O-N-Y) using the Blu-ray player remote as if you’re making a phone call. The video immediately begins to play taking you back to the "PLAY" option of the TOP MENU afterwards. So now it’s time to figure out how to implement this for a HDMV based Blu-ray versus BD-J. Wish me luck!
__________________________________
Well that didn't take long. I launched BDedit a short time ago and have already implemented the video as an Easter Egg just as was done for the original disc. The Easter Egg is available from Page 1 of the TOP MENU and POPUP MENU at present. Below is a pic from BDedit. All I did was add a new button (0040) to the end of the page. The button is hidden as there are no objects associated with it (FFFF) for any of the different button states. There's also no way to navigate to the button. Once adding the button I updated the first field, the "value" field entering the HEX value (1DF5) for 7669. The decimal value this field represents when entered using the number pad of the Blu-ray player remote will result in the button being activated. I then added the navigation command, "Jump GPR739" to the button for the TOP MENU and "Call GPR739" to the button for the POPUP MENU, GPR739 under MovieObjects 1 and 2 (Move GPR739, 21) storing the value of the Title (21) associated with the playlist (00102.mpls) in question.
https://www.lowpro.net/doom9.org/menus/panic_room/ubat_panic_room_sphe_essentials_easter_egg.jpg
When testing this I found that PowerDVD had its virtual remote's number pad greyed out for some reason. As such, I tested using a hardware based Blu-ray player burning a test disc to BD-RE. Once reaching the TOP MENU I entered 7669 from the Sony BDP-S5000ES activity of my trusty Philips Pronto Professional TSU9600 Remote Control, then pressed "Enter" or "OK". The video immediately played, access to the secondary POPUP MENU included so one can return to the TOP MENU or Feature Presentation at any time via the POPUP MENU if they like. With the original disc only numerical entry is required. The moment 7669 is entered the video starts to play, no pressing "Enter" or "OK" afterwards to initiate playback. I originally suspected this was due to the hidden button perhaps having its auto-action flag set to "Yes". With my initial testing I had the auto-action flag set to "No". Testing again with the auto-action flag set to "Yes" I found that pressing "Enter" or "OK" was still required once entering 7669 so perhaps a limitation with HDMV versus BD-J.

This week I'm testing the "Panic Room" menu layout I recently added to my "Universal Blu-ray Authoring Template (UBAT)". Eye candy provided below for your viewing pleasure, my take on the Kino Lorber release of "Daylight (1996)".

Have you released your Universal template yet? I would certainly like to try it out.

Hi Brink. It has not been released yet. I was a month away at most, but had to set the project aside as I unexpectedly found myself unemployed. Work force reduction. Fun, fun, fun. That being said, I've since found a new job. Working 55 hours a week at present. Not as young as I used to be evidently. Took some time to get acclimated to the new work schedule. Actually have energy left when I get home from work now. As such, I'll be resuming my work on the template next week with plans to release the template some time in September. When the time comes I'll send you a PM if you like. ;)

Hi and I have viewed this thread before. I am attempting to put one of my all-time favorites TV Shows to BD. But so far, I am coming up with very little luck and a lot of frustration. I was wondering if you could perhaps make some kind of tutorial on the tools needed and the process involved? I am going to burn SCTV with 12 shows per disc at about 23 or 24 minutes a piece. Also, I am not really clear on what format the background for the main menu should be? I have MKV files at 720x480 each and I don't know if it is required to upscale them? I wonder if it is possible to add a pop-up menu easily or is this another hurdle? I don't require hi-res audio. My goal is that I can fit more shows on one BD at good quality than on DVD. There are 185 30 minute episodes for the series. But honestly, I really don't know how to integrate your process into using BD rebuilder to make the BD discs. When I load the ISO with BD Rebuilder, I check it with VLC and there is no links, just the background for the menu comes up. I don't want to burn a disc for fear I will create a coast!
I have attempted to make a Pseudo-BD with BD rebuiler with MP4 files at 1080p but when the menu comes up, there is the background image but no actual links to press to play the shows. My idea is to burn the series, and then I could even add my own bonus features, which I have recoreded over the years from TV. All of my content is from VHS and again, I am certainly no expert at authoring a Blu-ray. I have tried DVD Styler, Blu-Disc Stuio Lite, DVD Fab and others all with no success. If you could give me a hand, I would really appreciate it. Thanks for your time and consideration.
