About

Development of the original MPC-HC project has ended. The few other developers that were involved have all lost interest.

But don't worry, MPC-HC is still very much alive!

My repository is a continuation of the original MPC-HC project.

I have been involved in MPC development for almost 15 years, even before MPC-HC existed, so consider my builds as the new 'official' releases.

Development state

MPC-HC does not have many active developers right now. So don't expect much new functionality or other big changes. The player already is mature and provides all functionality that most people need. MPC-HC is open source, so anyone who is interested can contribute patches for fixes and improvements. You can submit patches to me, and when I think your change is useful, I will gladly include it in a future build.

Several people have already contributed improvements, fixes, and even new functionality.

Please do NOT post any feature requests in this topic or on Github. I am not interested in your requests and I will NOT implement them.

Added video preview on seekbar
Added support for new codecs such as AV1 and H.266/VVC
Added support for yt-dlp (successor of youtube-dl)
Added support for MPC Video Renderer
Added A-B Repeat

Lots of other useful improvements and additions in functionality
Lots of bug fixes
Lots of crash fixes

BTW, the forum may alter titles or post which contain only uppercase characters, so try to add a lowercase word too (e.g. at least "MPC-HC v1.7...", if not even "media player" in addition).

When I change between Full-screen and windowed than madvr crashes and mpc-hc also. Not at the first time, but after 4 or 5 "fast" changes. Old mpc-hc version works fine.
This was my first test(not much time right now).

No recent changes in that area, so it is unlikely a new problem. Use latest version of Madvr and if that crashes, submit the crash report to madshi.

You need to read this first post in this thread. There is NO DEVELOPMENT happening in MPC-HC anymore, including fixes. clsid was kind enough to do a new build with newer versions of various components, but he does not do development.

Thanks for the new build first of all.
However I'm having issues watching VODs that are passed through to MPC-HC. Occasionally the playback will get very choppy in an area where - if you freshly open the VOD and skip to the same time - playback will be smooth. This is most easily reproduced if you pause the VOD and return to it at a later time. Could be a LAV Filter issue. Stable MPC-HC with the older LAV Filters works okay. Might try 1.7.14 with stable LAV Filters to double check.

Edit: This is an issue with LAV Filters which has been resolved with version 0.71.0.34-git.

thanks, tried lav filters wmv wma decoder but with microsoft asf splitter (lav asf splitter is unstable) & every windows media works fine.

not really suddenly.. the project has been going slow for quite some time and there have been multiple calls for coders who want to help out, but no one really stepped up.. clsid is doing what he can to maintain the source , but judging from the amount of people who ask 'can you fix...' or 'can you add feature ...' they don't really seem to get what 'no development' means :)

LAV Splitter selects the longest title by default in case of BD(UHD). You should be able to select the other titles through the navigate menu.

I fixed UHD BD title selection in MPC-HC code, it was trying to do this instead of letting LAV do it. There is a PR against the official mpc-hc repo, you can pull it into your own as well:

Probably this PR will fix dragging UHD "Index.bdmv" into MPC-HC? Doing that works for me with MPC-BE, but currently fails with MPC-HC.

There can be new features if other people contribute...

For example there is someone working on a patchset that allows streaming from Youtube (and many other sites) using Youtube-dl.exe
