I know there are a few guides using old tools, which sometimes don't work with newer editions of windows, and I would like to ask.
Is there any newer or easier method to add subtitles to DVDs today?
Adding subtitles to blu-rays is such an easy task, it would be great if adding subtitles to DVD would be easy too.
So, anyone can point me out a method to do this? The easy way?

So the easiest method still is: PGCDemux, Muxman, Subtitlework Shop and VobBlanker?

Your main problem is maintain the menu.
Ideally, you had the original project of author of dvdlab pro, dvd architect , etc.
A tool that you could also use (it is, also is old but few programs that handle idx and sub) is Subtitle Creator.

No, the easiest method is with DvdSubEdit, it keeps menus and there is no need for demultiplexing, very easy.
edit : actually I don't remember if DvdSubEdit can add any subtitle track or only modify an existing subtitle track.

No, DvdSubEdit can not do this. The remuxing stage can not be avoided. Reauthoring the DVD entirely, possibly with MuxMan and based on the assets demuxed from the original tracks + the new subtitle track, is the way to go... That's "the easy way"... :o

If DvdSubEdit can not do this, then veggav's method is the simplest I believe (anyway VobBlanker has to be used to keep menus and replace only the modified title).
But I wonder if another trick would not be possible with DvdSubEdit : if it can not open an external sub, and if the original dvd has a subtitle track that you don't need, you can maybe modify the whole subtitle track, which corresponds to a replacement.

SubtittleCreator (http://subtitlecreator.sourceforge.net/SubtitleCreatorHomepage.html)is the easiest method of doing this - one step only (if the subtitles are perfect).

@Music Fan.
Naaa... :)
This way is a nightmare... You have to edit the single bmps, times, etc. of the subs one by one... Not feasible...
@Ghitulescu.
Naaaaaaa... :rolleyes:
Have you ever tried the "DVD Wizard" function of SC?
I did, and the used process chain and tools are apparently all right. Nevertheless I have never been able to build one single compilation out of it...
Maybe it's my fault, and I don't know why, but it failed. Always. That's my experience. With a manual procedure, at least all the steps and the assets are known and in your hands, letting you to make fixing and adaptations werever needed...
