Subtitle Edit 3.2.6

I'm attempting to sync subtitles using "Visual sync" in Subtitle Edit 3.2.6. I've followed the instructions given in the tutorial, http://www.nikse.dk/SubtitleEdit/Help#visual_sync with no results.

he newly created srt file is always way out of sync.

Can anyone offer any insight???

The problem probably is the (abysmal) WMP video renderer, it's quite impossible to properly sync subtitles with the current state of visualisation. The video navigation is clunky, so are the options to adjust the time of subs if there is a video preview that doesn't adjust in time with the program. Nikse should foremost look for an alternative option to preview the video, because it merely renders the whole subtitle program worthless, and that's a shame because the core of it is quite good, and it would be awesome with a better video preview.

try point sync and virtualdub... or aegisub after using subtitleedit to get the subs in the right format.

subtitleedit is brilliant, but not a panacea.

@denret: No all subtitles can be sync'ed by just two sync points - there can be extra/removed scenes. Fixing this requires more work... e.g. manually syncing using the time-line/waveform (do check options -> settings -> shorcuts).

SE has not used WMP since version 2.x. In "options -> settings -> video player" you can choose between DirectShow, VLC and MPlayer (in newer versions of SE a small label display name of video renderer in player).
What options could improve adjust time in SE?

Thanks for the feedback, but I'm more confused now. I switched my default video player in Subtitle Edit to VLC media player and attempted another sync....no positive resutls.

I'm following the instructions from Nikse in this link:

I then save the completed srt file and use it in place of the
old (unsynced) one.

Yes, it's a valid way to sync - but only for some subtitles.

Thanks for the feedback. I have had success with some
Subtitles..........still working with others. I have downloaded
your recommended reading and am working with it also.

Subtitle Edit does work well for me.

Hi, I have a (stupid) question : how to save in srt with Subtitle Edit (I opened a sub format) ? I don't see srt (or Subrip) in the long list of formats when I click on file, save as, type.:confused:
The content of the sub was directly displayed (like if I opened a srt), I was very astonished, I believed the OCR would need much more time.
I tried before other programs in this kind and they had to make an OCR and I had to confirm for a lot of characters, not practical.

edit : I found, SubRip was above all other formats, not in the alphabetical order.
