View Full Version : How to sync 2 subtitle text-files?

Hi there!

I'm looking for a possibility of syncing 2 text subtitle files.

Currently I'm using SubtitleCreator which is one of the greatest tools ever. The method of "linking" the corresponding text lines and the "rubberbanding" between these links is perfect!

Sure, converting the "right" file to a *.sup-stream and syncing the second one would be an option. (But I would prefer to avoid this step and I also would like to see every text line of both streams.)

Any suggestion welcome!
Thanks!

Googling after your title (I changed text into SRT) would yield probably the right answer in the first 10 hits, mine did ;)

Thanks @ Ghitulescu!

Crazy me.... but I didn't like to download unnecessarily hundreds of programs ...
SubtitleEdit seems to be exactly what I was looking for (support unicode, extract from mkv etc...)

Btw. crazy me 2nd time: SubtitleCreator supports syncing 2 text files! - the problem was trying it accidentially with a unicode *.srt.

Thanks again!:thanks:

I also used SC until I noticed the subtitles it produces are defective on my Pioneers (all of them, except the blu-ray). It supports Unicode.
I have recently discovered SE, using a google search, looking up how to synch two SRTs. Apparently it uses the same algorithm as SC (multipoint).
I hate myself to install zillions of SW, but you can't go wrong with any of them.
