Is there any simple free tool out there that takes an AVCHD stream (.mts or .m2ts/.modd/.moff, etc) and yields a text-based subtitle file (.srt, .sub, etc) with the frame specific metadata as content? My Sony HD camcorder generates this metadata (time, date, shutter info, geotagging info) and stores it for each frame (perhaps group of frames).
DVMP (http://www.dvmp.co.uk) seems to be the only tool that can read it. But this feature is disabled in the demo version, and $70 seems a bit steep, anyway.
multiAVCHD (http://multiavchd.deanbg.com/) has potential, but needs some work in this area, especially for geotagging.
My ambition is to extract the date/time and geotagging data, to place in a subtitle track of my edited home videos on a Bluray disk or DVD.
