my brother recently bought a chinese portable player (ramos tf17hd, if it matters) and since the player doesn't support hebrew text subtitles i decided to try vobsub subtitles and of course now hebrew works. at first i used subtitlecreator to convert the srt file but then the subs don't look very good on the lcd display, it looks like there are some random missing pixels, the best way i can describe it is that the "rendering" of the bitmaps is little messy. the text is still readable but just dosen't look very smooth and sometimes we confuse letters because of it. the pro side is that when i use the player's tv-out option the subs align very well, in the middle of the black letterbox, but don't look good of course.
i then tried using txt2vobsub and the result is a very smooth and clear text that looks great, just like on a pc. when i use the player's screen the subs are positioned properly but my real problem is when using the tv-out, then the bottom line of the subs is positioned too low and i can only see half of it, which makes it almost impossible to read and understand. when i try adjusting the offset in txt2sub it doesn't seem to do any change at all.
does anyone know of any other program to convert srt to vobsub? or, preferably, know of a setting should i change in any of the 2 program in order for it to be both smooth and correctly positioned on the tv-out?

Have a look on my own thread (concerning SC, it's exactly the same issue) and see there the recommendations I got. -> http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=153385.
