I hope someone can enlighten me about these things.
I was looking for a subtitle format to use (as I don't really like SSA), and stumbled across the Mpeg 4 Part 17 Timed Text.
Looking for more information all I found was confusion.
Perhaps someone can answer a few or all of my questions:
1) Mpeg 4 p17 Timed Text is merely the specification, not a specific implementation, right? Comparable to Mpeg4 video and DivX, XviD, etc...
2) Is there any recommended implementation?
3) the 3GPP TText implementation of MP4p17 is currently the only one?
4) GPAC TText is the same as 3GPP TText?
5) W3C TTML/DXFP is something completely different, not just another implementation?
6) How about TTML? I suppose that is about as usable as SMIL? (Read: barely, if at all)
7) Is there any MP4p17 subtitle format that can be used,or are all of them barely used? I'd think that the 3GPP TText should be usable?
Any information would be apreciated. Don't hesitate to throw a link, just don't aim for the face :-)
