View Full Version : A problem with MKV's

All though this question mentions subtitles, I'm not entirely certain it belongs in the forum - so sorry if its wrong.

I have an mkv where i would like to make srt subtitles.

I should be able to use VisualSubSync, except it only shows the first 5-10 minutes of the mkv (depends on the mkv) and then it looks as if there is no more video. Even though there could easily be an hour more.

You might say thats a bug in VisualSubSync (author says no, it should work) and if i try another program, like SubtitleWorkshop that is the same problem.

If i playback the mkv in windows media player it plays without problem from start to end (or i can search as i please)

I was wonder if "something" might tell the programs that the file is only 4 minutes long instead of 2 hours?

I'm using Haali Media Splitter vers 1.9.355.21
and ffdshow (not entirely sure what version, 2527 version dec 17 2008 it says in video decoder)

Any ideas?
